Amitabh and Sri Devi to star together again

Mumbai: Rumour mill were running agog with news of Sri Devi making a comeback for some time now, but no clear revelation came from the actress or any of the filmmaker.

However, if latest sources are to be believed, the yesteryear superstar might just be cast in a film opposite none other than the living legend of Bollywood – Amitabh Bachchan.

Acclaimed filmmaker, R Balki confirms that Ms Hawa Hawai is making a comeback in his wife Gauri Shinde's directorial debut this year. He also showed interest in casting her in his next directorial venture along with Big B.

In Gauri's film, Sri Devi plays a housewife who sets out to find her own identity.

Speaking for the first time on his wife's film, Balki says, "Yes, Sridevi will star in her film. And yes, I'm doing another project with Mr Bachchan. Like 'Cheeni Kum' and 'Paa' it is again an audacious idea that we are both hugely excited about. Will my film too star Sri Devi? Why not? But at the moment it's too early to talk about the casting of my film."

Balki has a knack of placing Big B in challenging combinations with screen divas, like with Tabu in 'Cheeni Kum' and Vidya in 'Paa', so with Sri Devi how the maverick director will manage to cast Big B would be interesting to see.

Last seen in Mukul Anand's 'Khuda Gawah', the Sri Devi and Amitabh Bachchan jodi created mass hysteria. Last heard the hit jodi was feted for Yash Chopra's magnum opus 'Veer-Zaara', but the pairing did not materialize.
