Okay, so different people different opinions. You are entitled to your opinion that "Winners don't quit. Quitters don't win" makes a good reading material. I believe in that. So we both have completely differing viewpoints. See, its not as if I don't believe this quote, but we have to take all circumstances into consideration first before declaring that one shouldn't quit.Courage includes sensible approach to do something. Without sensibility it is usually called a misadventour, which, most of the times turns out bad. I am not propsing Sushant doing a crazy performance. If he would have chosen to dance, he had lots of options to dance on without bothering his back too much. Not necessarily. Many times patients are told not to strain their back at all, or give it bedrest first and slowly start exerting it. Since I or you have not seen Sushant's MRI reports (which must have been done since he has been told by the Doc that he is prone to slip disc) passing conclusive judgements about it is not fair that he should have done this and he should have done that. So, would you skip or medical college exam if you have headache or take an aspirin and go for it?? After all, headache can be a sign of some serious issues. I am sure you know that being a med student.đOkay, I'm sorry, really sorry, but you chose a bad example here. I don't blame you for that though, cos you are not a medical student.Whenever you have a symptom, the most common disease is always thought about first, also the circumstances in which it has been presented (which we call history). Yes, if you have a headache, it could mean something serious, but probability is very very less, also duration since which headache is there is taken into consideration. The first thing coming to mind of a doctor is not that it would be a tumour or something like that, the first thing is that it is just a simple headache, cos the person has been studying all night for the exam straining himself. And so I wouldn't worry about it, take an aspirin and go.đHeadaches over a period of time could lead to suspect visual problems. So you see, even in the second choice we don't think about something very serious.(Plus there are various more factors involved, like type of headache, nature of pain, area of pain, any associated disease/symptom and so on. However since you wrote only headache, I have considered that it is the only complaint)Sushant's case is not like that. He has already seen a doctor and been diagnosed as a patient prone to slip disc. (That is done after an MRI. Right now he is on heavy medication). The severity of his condition is almost confirmed now. Now any severe stress on his back may be a sort of trauma to him. It will only deteriorate his back.Plus there is a lot of difference between a headache and a broken back- also specifically in their management. Headache is a NOT A DISEASE, it is a SYMPTOM. Symptoms can be suppressed at times and treatments taken later on. (like we take painkillers- pain is also a symptom- if you have an important meeting or function but are in pain, you can pop a painkiller for the time being and take proper treatment to cure the root of the disease later). Like even if you have a serious problem which causes headaches to you and an examination of a lifetime (such as medical entrance exams in India for which Indian students slog and slog and slog) then you may take the choice to control it, take medication and make necessary arrangements and give the exam, (IF AND ONLY IF doctors give consent to discharge you temporarily- keeping in mind the other parameters, signs and symptoms of the disease you are suffering from- cos if it a serious problem, there might be more symptoms than simply headache) provided the headache lets you think clearly and write in peace. It isn't really going to kill you for tackling a headache temporarily. This is not so in Sushant's case. The problem isn't simply about a paining back, its about the long term problem- the deterioration. Any stress on a back prone to slip disc without giving it any rest at first, is in a way, TRAUMA. These guys have to practise 3 acts every week and for that they rehearse all week long, add to that, their daily show shootings. There is a fine line between being cautious and being a coward. If Sushant was a quitter and a coward who was scared, he would have left Pavitra Rishta, his daily soap too. But he isn't doing that. The simple reason being 1.) He knows how much he can exert himself. 2.) He can get rest in between the shoots in his personal vanity van 3.) He has professional commitments and the serial would be stranded midway without a lead if he took a break. 4.) Simply acting is so much less stressful than dancing. 5.) He is going according to doctors' orders. So its not as if Sushant is a coward and is not working. He is, but only to the extent that is safe. And of course, he is wearing the special belt. Just as you yourself said, he is cautious. If something as vigorous as dancing has been forbidden to him by doctors, he needs to consider that.
