Im Sorry for the topic header😛, but before you guyz screw me up I wanna make a few comments.
I am a new comer to this forum and am totally blown away by the hysteria among all you people about Indian Idol.
I have been following Indian Idol I & II. I have no favorites and enjoy both the finalists sing.
Having watched both the seasons of II, I would like to make a few observations based on them. Please don't smother me, its just a personal opinion.
1. Lets keep in mind, the biggest benefitter of the whole show is Sony.
2. Sony not only makes money through the votes and Advertisemens, but also through the albums they release after the season ends.
3. Its common sense that people remember a better singer more than an average/good singer.
4. We have always seen in every result episode that every person who exits exudes emotions, generally through tears or through their facial expressions (Panna and Ravi).
5. Based on point 4 and assuming all the finalists are humans, I was shocked to see neither Abhijeet Sawant nor Amit Sana express any emotions during the Indian Idol I final results. Neither of them cried, nor did Abhijeet feel exuberant about his win or the 1 crore.
6. With due respect to the singing capabilities of both Abhijeet and Amit Sana, it was obvious that Amit had loyal fans and would buy his CD no matter what.
7. For a moment, let us assume that Amit had won II, would Abhijeet's albums have sold in the same quantity as it actually did. I would say no. But the number of people buying Amit's CDs would have remained almost the same.
8. Also from all the news articles I read, Amit had a handsome lead even on the last day of the votes ( I am not deliberating here, so I may be wrong)
9. Back to II 2, if you watch any episode of II 2 after Amey's exit, not once did they mention whether the 3 week voting was to decide the II2 winner or for the top 2. They always said vote for your fav. contestant or vote for the person whom you wanna see become II2.
It was only in the episode before Anuj's exit dat they actually revealed wat the votes were for.
10. Also now for the final 2, they always said the voting ends at 18th April 9 am and on 18th night the results would be announced. Now all of a sudden the deadline is 18th night and the results are on 22nd. Even if its on 18th April is Sony trying to say they are going to telecast the results live!!!!
11. Also the drama during Amey and Anuj's exit shows, are they trying to kid people or do they thing we are fools. Give the people a break. The judges with their irresponsible behavior are only undermining themselves in the eyes of people and their fans.
12. For me Sony decides the II and not the votes. The votes are just for money minting.
My only objective of this whole mesg was please stop getting personal about the whole II mania, stop wasting time and money over the votes. Stop any personal attacks on other IF members or on the contestants. Take it as an advice and spend time at better things and use money more efficiently.
No one is stoppin you from enjoyin the show or having favorites but dont get personal about the results.
Thats it from my end. I am sure most of you'll wanna smother me, but I wrote what I felt was right and I stand by everything.
