You have scored a 'perfect 30' yet again this week on Jhalak.
The theme for this week was that each contestant was to use a prop in their performance and we were given a box and were asked to perform out of the box. It was a real challenge for us on how to use a regular prop like a box in an innovative way and like the theme itself says 'out-of-the-box', we had to come up with something absolutely different. Our choreography was simple yet effective and the judges were unanimously impressed which got us a perfect 30 score. I would give the entire credit of my score to my choreographer Maricha.
Tell us how was Chang as a dancer before Jhalak...
Before Jhalak I had no idea on how to dance. The last time I might have danced was in Class 6. But I always had great respect for people who could dance and looked up to them as wonderful personalities. When I decided to be a part of Jhalak, the idea was just to try my best and go with the flow. But over the episodes I have enhanced by creativity. Unlike singing or acting, dancing demands a flair for multitasking. You have to perform your steps and at the same time take care of your posture and give the correct expression. Doing all of them together is a beautiful effort and I am enjoying that.
Do you think the competition has become tougher after the wild card entry?
Wild card entry always has a huge advantage because someone gets a second chance. They have already faced elimination before so they don't exactly have the fear of rejection. Also the participants come back with a lot of vengeance and have that fire in them to prove in the second chance that they have got. So wild card can certainly be daunting.
I was very sure that Yana and Salman would come back because they are fantastic dancers. But for the second wild card entry, I expected Krushna Abhishek to come back over Ankita Lokhande.
Who is your strongest competitor on the show as of now?
At the cost of sounding prudent, I would like to say that this is the best season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa for it has such seasoned dancers and performers who are working really hard. I guess Sushant and Yana are my strongest opponents.
The pressure might have gone up with the competition getting tough...
Certainly! Initially we used to take things lightly and our rehearsals were only five hour long. But as the competition became tougher, we had to give more time and energy to our acts. Unlike others, I have this advantage that I don't work on a daily soap. So I can give more time to my acts. But then Sushant and Yana have the advantage that they have good choreographers. I have a superb choreographer but I am not as natural dancer like they are and have to put more efforts.
You haven't done any film post Badmaash Company
I have been getting roles similar to Badmaash Company and I don't see any fun doing that. I am not in hurry and don't mind waiting for the right offer. I want to balance between singing, dancing and acting.
You haven't tried your luck with many reality shows either though they have been lucky for you.
I will not do any reality show because I want to be in limelight and earn money. I have been offered several reality shows but I have been extremely choosy. In fact, I have no idea why I have been offered comedy reality shows because I suck at comedy. I will not do any more singing reality shows. I will not do any more dance reality shows. But I have kept my window of choice open.
Any particular reality show that you would love to participate in?
I would love to do Fear Factor . In fact after the kind of grueling sessions and hard work we have put in for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa , I guess every participant on Jhalak is prepared for Fear Factor .
