Ranbir walks out of world tour
Subhash K Jha, Jan 26, 2011, 01.59pm ISTRanbir Kapoor's first world tour is off for now. The Kapoors have decided to postpone the concert to next year. But considering the family was looking forward to it, why the sudden change in plans?
Ranbir, we are told, wants more zing in his performances there. Katrina, Bipasha and Malaika Khan have their respective item numbers Sheila ki jawaani, Beedi jalaile and Munni badnaam to dance to. But Ranbir prefers not to go on stage until he has that one grand USP to flaunt.
In August last year, Rishi Kapoor told a section of the media, "You can't go on a world concert without a bank of songs. Now that Ranbir has a few chartbusters, it's the right time." But this doesn't seem to be true anymore.
Ranbir's close associates are counting on the music of his next release Rockstar to be his USP. Even his family members apparently feel that his first world tour would make little sense if the tracks (which AR Rahman has composed) from Rockstar were missing. Ranbir can only perform to these tracks if the film releases before the concerts are scheduled.
Says a source, "Now, because of the IPL it isn't certain if Rockstar and its music will be released before the scheduled concerts. To Ranbir, going on a world tour without the Rahman songs makes no sense. This is the first time that Rahman has scored music for a Ranbir starrer."
When contacted, Rishi Kapoor said, "We don't want to go on the World tour without Ranbir's Rockstar music. And we can only do that if the film is released. At the moment we've been told that it would be the first release after the IPL matches. Meanwhile, Ranbir's concerts are postponed to April 2012. He wants Rockstar and Barfi to release before that." The spokesperson of Asthvinayak (producer) says, "Shooting for the film is going on. Rockstar will be releasing (sic.) as per the schedule in 2011. But the producer has not decided on the release date."
