Koki wanted a doll whom she can dominate, she wanted to keep her strings in her hands. Thats how Gopi is, she follows Koki around without any argument. Where as Anita was an independent woman, obviously she wouldn't want Koki to take over the steering wheel of her life. This is why the girl was rejected and Aham being mama's boy went ahead and married Gopi.
