Hello all,

Firstly, Merry Christmas to all😃.

Next hope you all saw my message in pg.25 about the reason for the delay in my updates. I would like to thank everyone of you for all your patience. And just in time for christmas I have the next chapter...hope you all like it.

Chapter 7

Geet's thoughts: Could my first day at work get any worse... (Heaving a huge sigh)

Geet was sitting in her cabin, tapping on her notepad with the pen absently. She was lost in the thoughts of Maan and what happened this morning. 'Could her first day at work get any worse', she thought to herself.

'I mean come on! She was like any other girl having the same aspirations and dreams on her first day here and who expected to see the all important Maan singh khurana (she tried to imitate his voice in her head and failed miserably).

'She did not even know he owned this place and to top it all she wanted to thank him earlier on, she even prayed to babaji to make all his wishes to come true when she was coming in the bus....she looked up again and quickly whispered....put that on hold babaji'.

'How stupid and naive of her to think of his well being when he did not even have anything polite to say to her when they met. Well you are stupid geet at least that much is clear to expect anything from him', she chastised herself.

She should not have been surprised by his behaviour at all, but she was. She thought he dint like her because of her and her family's behaviour in hoshiarpur. But after he saved her that night she believed he might have changed his mind. But looking at his icy demeanour she was sure she was wrong again.

'Well, she cannot keep wondering and worrying what is going to happen after this morning. But she was sure of one thing; she was going to put her head down and focus on her work completely, no more personal dealings with Maan or bringing up any of their hoshiarpur adventures. Its part of her past and this is her present'

With that decision firmly in mind, she felt a little bit better. 'Everything was going to be fine', she thought. And after 3 months when her probation ends she will make a decision on whether to stay or go depending on her situation then.

Geet was still lost in thought contemplating her next plan of action, when Sasha entered her cabin followed by Tasha.

"So Miss. Geet Handa from hoshiarpur our new behenji in KC", she smirked.

Geet lifted her eyes slowly to look at sasha enquiringly on what she was after.

This complete quietness from geet irked sasha, as she thought geet is disrespecting her not even standing up for her senior. "Ready to pack your stuff and go back to your small town", she asked.

Geet still dint answer her and geet knew sasha was getting annoyed by the minute, but geet was not going to react knowing sasha and tasha's tendencies from pinky.

Sasha turned around to tasha for a verbal assurance,"so what do you think tasha? Will anyone be able to work here after taking panga with MK?"

"Of course not sasha (and when sasha turned to stare angrily at tasha), silly me I mean sasha mam"

"And how many secretaries have you seen MK having so far?" quipped sasha at tasha.

"Well I started about a year and a half ago and in that time maybe around 30 or more" replied tasha

"That's exactly right, and lets help our behenji here after all we are good Samaritans. At this rate you won't even last a week"

"So what do you say geet, after your sharp retorts this morning, I would suggest you not to waste your time until he fires you. See I typed you resignation form myself even finding the clause to get you out of your probation. Nice of me don't you think. So you can have a peaceful exit"

By now geet had heard enough, she stood up angrily to ask sasha and tasha to leave her alone.

But sasha hurried even before geet could say a word, "here you go geet". She shoved the resignation papers onto geet's hands and continued, "tasha, why don't you help our behenji here to pack. You did bring the boxes that I asked you to dint you? I am sure she will appreciate it" she smirked again.

"Of course mam" said tasha and kept the box that she was carrying on the table. Before she could do anything though, geet spoke up

"Tasha" called geet in an icy tone "thanks for the offer but I am not going anywhere". She looked back at sasha when she pronounced the last word.

Sasha was angry with the way geet was talking to her, she was ready to give a piece of her mind.

But geet cut her off even before she can start and continued "If there is nothing related to work you want to discuss with me, I think I will go to back to work then. I am sure Maan sir wont appreciated idle gossip from his employees".

With that geet sat back down and started typing in her computer. She was waiting for sasha and tasha to leave before she said or did anything.

Sasha walked out of geets cabin; she was more than angry with geet now. A lowly secretary like this behenji insulted her by dismissing her without a by your leave and showing no respect for her betters.

'Well geet is going to rue the day she messed with me, sasha will teach her how things are done in KC and before the end she is going to be so sorry and will apologise to her. She will teach her a lesson' she thought.

She turned around to look for tasha who was running to keep up with her, "well tasha, looks like our behenji should be taught a few lessons on not to mess with her betters. What do you think?"

"Of course! I mean how dare she speak to you like that. You have to teach her a lesson. So she would not cross our paths again"

"mmm, you are right. Let's work on it then" with that they both walked towards sashas cabin.

Geet was relieved to see the back of those two, she knew this won't be the end of them but it's a relief now for sure.

She looked at the termination paper on the table and picked it up and thought 'Is Maan expecting her to quit as well like these two'. He had not said anything to her yet. But then she thought again about this morning, the way she sassed him 'window shopping.....ughh....really geet....you could not have ruined your chances any better....seriously'.

After that he probably wants her to quit or something but she was not going to and maybe she should clear it with him that she is here to stay. There was no reason for her to quit, she got this job on merit 'mmm..... She better go talk to him now'. She turned around to look through the shades if he was in the cabin and he was.

She got up to go talk to him, but her phone rang and the display showed as MK. She turned and looked at his cabin and picked up the phone.

"Hello"

"Come to my cabin, now!"

"Yes Sir"

She absently took the resignation form which was lying on top of her notepad along with the pad.

"So"Maan started once she entered the cabin.

"Heard that you have been in Delhi for two months, studied a course to get this job"

"Are you stalking me?"

Geet was shocked at his last words, stalking him. That thought dint enter her mind and it wouldn't even in her wildest dreams. Seriously she wanted to laugh it was ridiculous; the first half of what he said was general information which was ok but the accusation. Did he seriously consider himself so important that someone like her would want to stalk him.

Any woman would have been really upset about this; however she replied much more politely than she felt.

"For starters, I did not know you owned KC. NO! I am not here because of you so there is no reason to stalk you"

"I am not sure if you know but KC is not the only company I got an offer from. KC in fact was my last choice, but due to certain change of circumstances I chose KC in the end"

"I am explaining all this to you sir so that you don't mistake again I am here because of our association in hoshiarpur"

Maan was not happy hearing her dismiss him so easily; he still thought that she was using him in some way like she did in hoshiarpur when she wanted him to help her boy friend escape her brother.

Well he was going to make it clear that she cannot use him again the way she did in hoshiarpur. Delhi was his turf.

"Good in that case, let's clarify a few things"

"We will not discuss our association of hoshiarpur here and not bring our personal issues to work"

"I am your boss and I expect your complete focus on work. I expect perfection in all my employees. There is not room for error"

He knew he was getting a little overboard but it was her standing there looking at him so defiantly. She always did that to him, make him react in ways he has no control over and sometimes regret his actions later. 'He should better stop his preaching now'.

Geet already made up her mind about all this so there was nothing for her to object, so she nodded and said "that's fine, sir"

"Good, now back to work. Is that a fax you have in your hand?"

She looked at her hand and realised she had the stupid resignation form given to her by sasha. She quickly stuck it in her notepad and said "It's nothing sir"

"It's alright let me see it must be important if you brought it with you to my cabin"

She was getting uncomfortable now and thought 'why is he making a big deal of this when she already said it was nothing'

"It's really nothing sir"

He stared at her for a few minutes without saying anything and said "Is it?"

She squirmed at the intensity of his look.

"Or is that your resignation papers"

Geet turned a shade of pink in her embarrassment at how annoyingly perceptive he was. She slightly turned around the notepad to see if anything was visible but nothing was. She looked back at him and he watched her shrewdly

"So Miss. Geet Handa you decided to quit in one day"

"Scared of me are you or you couldn't handle the work pressure here. If you are such a weakling may be you should quit. Give me the papers, I will sign it and relieve you right here and now"

He walked up to her to get the paper, but she took a few steps back in denial "No sir, I am not quitting. I am here to stay and do my job" she said affirmatively.

"I will wait to test that theory geet"

P.S - you all might be wondering why i said to be continued at the end, well the answer for that is I realized when i started this chapter it was a continuation of the first day at work from the previous chapter and the next chapter will also be continuing from where I left here. So just a quick precap, you all are going to hear about Dev in the next chapter.
