Upen bags plum projects before debut

Model-actor Upen Patel's popularity is growing so much so that he already bagged six prestigious projects even before his debut release - Abbas Mastan's thriller '36 China Town' also starring Akshaye Khanna, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

Apparently Patel has been getting plenty of offers but has been cautious in his selection. The actor said, "Yes I've been meeting a lot of people but it's too early to confirm details. I'm all set for my debut with 36 China Town, and looking forward to its release. I'm glad that the industry seems to be accepting me."

So far he has been signed by Subhash Ghai, Ashtavinayak films, Sunil Darshan, Tips, Shyam Bajaj's next and Vipul Shah.

Subhash Ghai and Abbas Mastan could not stop raving about him. Ghai said, "Upen is definitely the guy to watch out for". Director duo Abbas and Mastan were so impressed with Patel that they have already signed him for another venture that will be produced by Astavinayak. They say, "Upen is professional and dedicated. He has a killer screen presence."

Director Sunil Darshan has gone a step ahead by signing him on as his solo hero. It is alos rumored that Priyanka Chopra will play the female lead opposite him. Darshan said, "I am aware of what I am doing. I am not the kind of director to bank on an actor who would fail to deliver"

Recently Vipul Shah announced his film 'Namaste London' with Akshay Kumar and Upen Patel. "I've got two of the best-looking men in my film. I'm sure it's going to rock," says Shah. This is the first time any model-actor has landed plum roles even before his first release. Such is the impact the people are comparing him with Bollywood star John Abraham.
