Overexposure - unappealing for your favorites?

😕 Ok, some actors/actresses have had the maximum releases this year (like Aish, Akshay, Ajay, etc.). But, did overexposure make them unappealing to the audience? Akshay has had to many films release back to back. Sometimes it is good to take a long hiatus and come back with a good film rather than producing junk every two months. After four releases this year, Aish is taking a short hiatus and will only come back with a few select films.

But, actors who were not in the limelight last year came back with some mega films and turned out to be disasters. That unfortunately happened to Hritik!! Even though his performances were critically acclaimed, is the public getting tired of him just after two releases?
Is the overexposure turning you off? Or, do you like your favorites to come up with a overload of releases? That will happen to Kareena next year!

I think stars need to chose their scripts WISELY. They shouldn't take up any and every film that is offered to them. Its better to take a break and come back with a powerful movie than do 3-4 movies that don't do so well. An overdose of too many movies during a year isn't always good. Therefore I like Aamir's philosophy of 1 or 2 movies per year. His films do better that way if you've noticed. Actors/actresses really need to dwell upon a script and make a WISE decision on whether to accept the role or not.

I have an aversion to overexposure of any kind, favorites or not. Now that PC has disappeared for a while, I'm actually looking forward to watching her in SKM. Otherwise couldn't stand her omnipresent self. 😆
As far as Hrithik is concerned, I think public does not care much about him anymore. I mean people will go watch any Aamir movie and make it a hit even its is as horrible as Ghajini. But exclusivity does not seem to work for others. Kites flopped and so did guzaarish. Why? Technically they should have worked because he came back after a year long gap from JA. Is Hrithik a star anymore or has Ranbir stolen his thunder? Am I even on topic anymore.....😳

and a lot of it also depends on the actor/actress's own luck!

Yes overexposure is not good at all. I think the audience will get tired of seeing your face lol. But if the performances are different and original from your previous work, than why not. Limit I will say 3-4 movies a year is fine. 4 movies a year might be too much. I don't know...maybe lol

I missed seeing Aish after Pink Panther 2 and I was wondering when her films were going to release! But, I was majorly dissapointed with the outcome of all the films this year. Raavan, Action Replayy, and Guzaarish did not deserve to flop! But, the audience is really peculiar in India to say the least. I can honestly say her acting in all the films I mentioned were different and strong. But, I think she should take a hiatus now and I wouldn't mind seeing her in 2012. 2011 can be a year off for her! I have had my Aish dose this year and am not complaining by any means whatsoever! 😊

Nice topic Erotic Lover. 😊
Regarding over exposure I have mixed opinions. It again depends on the kind of movies they make.
Example Ajay Devgun the kind of movies he chose this year I enjoyed each and every one of them
and they worked at the BO too ( 2 Blockbusters, 1 hit, 1 average and just 1 flop)
And on the contrary Akshay's movies they just get tedious. The same buffoonerey, the same running around each other, the same slapping people or if not people than a monkey 😆.
I am glad the general audience too is getting tired of him. ( 1 hit and the rest flops.)
I just wish he disappears for a year or two..
And Deepika who had many releases this year, I guess it defintely helped her grow and evolve as an actress and she tried different genres. so i am thinking it was not an overdose of just one type of genre.
And regarding taking a break and coming back like Aamir it just does not work for everyone. Only Aamir can do that. Most of his movies are worth the wait and the rest of the crappy ones he churns out too become blockbusters thanks to his amazing stratategies and marketing skills.
And regarding Hrithik, he started out with lot of promise, he was touted as the next super star, he was hailed as the one to topple the Khans, there was a time when even SRK was nervous looking at his rise. And right now he is going nowhere struggling to get one hit..
He was on the right path for a while then somewhere along things went hay wire... Bad script choices, Overconfidence, trying to follow Aamir policy and a bit of bad luck too..
I see a lot of potential and talent in Ranbir. Hope he utilises it the right way.

The problem with Hrithik's philosophy lies in the fact that he became over-selective at the very beginning of his career. He barely had 2-3 hits in his bag and decided he was too good to do "mediocre" work and would only work in "international" projects his dearest daddy made. It doesn't quite work that way. An actor has to first earn a reputation and then he/she can decide to be selective. Aamir consistently gave hits and did out-and-out commercial cinema for over a decade. He actually took the time to establish a reputation for himself before he decided to change tracks. I used to actually like Hrithik in his earlier days and thought he was a pretty decent actor. But his latest endeavors have been horrific. And honestly, I don't even care about the arrogance he's developed. But it irritates the crap out of me that he claims to be changing the face of Indian cinema with trash like Kkrish and Kites.

Too much of anything is too bad!!!

There was a time about a year or two back when there was priyanka all over the place...it seemed too much to take. I used to feel repelled.

Now the same is the case with Deepika she is always in news..and its only about her relationship with an ex than for anything substantial! There is a whole lot of movies she has done this year and everything different from the other but none of that was noticed...which is sad!

Aishwarya...none of her movies worked...I found her choices weird...esp AR and Robot...She seemed too old to do the regular song and dance stuff!

Akshay..HE HAS TO TAKE A BREAK!!...I don't understand how he does the same mindless slapsticks again and again and again!!

You know, I have never felt that Hrithik is a star. A decent actor? Yes, but most definitely not a star. A star doesn't do film once in a while and then goes into hiding for the next two-three years to come back with some Big Banner film. A star isn't so selective about his films and can do any crap and make it a hit if he has enough star power in him...Akshay, Salman, anyone? These two aren't great actors, and they mostly star in some c-grade comedy films, and despite that, they can guarantee a hit in the Box office. The same cannot be said for Hrithik. When he did star in the c-grade movies, they flopped and tanked so badly that none even remembers that. In fact, throughout his ten years old career, how many grosser does he have on his hand? About five, which is not at all a big number coming from the supposedly "greatest" actor ever. In fact, it should be noted that three of those odd hits he did give came from his father's production house. In short, he does not possess the same aura and star power that a Salman, Akshay and even SRK has.

Coming to his acting...y'know, when he does, in fact, act, it is always so over-hyped. Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish are perfect examples of it. Don't see what is so great about his acting that the critics praise him to the skies for it. The guy can't do the emotional scenes without making funny faces. He is horrifically bad at crying too. And neither can he do comedy. How he won a best actor for KNPH when Aamir did not win it for QSQT is beyond me. The last time I saw him act - which, I will have to add, was a tad bit over-hyped - was in KMG - which was released more than seven years ago. After that, all he has done is crap. Krrish - wow, that was a film?!, D2 - W*H was that?!, JA - he was okay-ish, but seriously though, he did not deserve to sweep all the best actor awards for it. (I have not seen Guzarrish yet, he seems to hve done a good job there).

Point is...he is neither a huge star like Salman, Akshay, SRK, nor is he a great actor like Aamir, Nasiruddin Shah. He falls somewhere in the middle, which is why most people don't care. Thing is, he gives a decent performance (most of the time backed up by his father) after coming out if his hiding after every three-four years, and then he is hailed as some exceptionally talented actor the world has ever seen. Not everyone is going to see it that way.
