for me 3-4 films a year is a good deal, and they should choose scripts wisely so that the audiences can get good entertainment from their films

Regarding over exposure I have mixed opinions. It again depends on the kind of movies they make.
Example Ajay Devgun the kind of movies he chose this year I enjoyed each and every one of them
and they worked at the BO too ( 2 Blockbusters, 1 hit, 1 average and just 1 flop)
And on the contrary Akshay's movies they just get tedious. The same buffoonerey, the same running around each other, the same slapping people or if not people than a monkey 😆.
I am glad the general audience too is getting tired of him. ( 1 hit and the rest flops.)
I just wish he disappears for a year or two..
And Deepika who had many releases this year, I guess it defintely helped her grow and evolve as an actress and she tried different genres. so i am thinking it was not an overdose of just one type of genre.
And regarding taking a break and coming back like Aamir it just does not work for everyone. Only Aamir can do that. Most of his movies are worth the wait and the rest of the crappy ones he churns out too become blockbusters thanks to his amazing stratategies and marketing skills.
And regarding Hrithik, he started out with lot of promise, he was touted as the next super star, he was hailed as the one to topple the Khans, there was a time when even SRK was nervous looking at his rise. And right now he is going nowhere struggling to get one hit..
He was on the right path for a while then somewhere along things went hay wire... Bad script choices, Overconfidence, trying to follow Aamir policy and a bit of bad luck too..
I see a lot of potential and talent in Ranbir. Hope he utilises it the right way.
.

I agree about Hrithik, I don't think he is a superstar now and I always knew he had a lot of overconfidence, I agree about Ranbir he has the potential to become a superstar. Ajay is doing well, I like his work. I agree with you, this is a great topic thanks Eroticlover

Over exposure of our stars is not because of films, its because of all the endorsements, stage-shows, interviews and constant media attention on them (wanted and unwanted) that always keeps them in the public eye! And now with Internet, the distance between our celebrities and their fans has reduced even more...Blogs, Facebook, Twitter....ofcourse, there is an overkill!

i miss hrithik very very much.No idea about being the greatest or not being so gr8 n all of that, all i know is that he is extremely likable. The reason y there was such a long gap between JA n Kites has a lot to do with his knee injury i guess.I am quite sure he has a lot of fans...Who well, have now transferred their priorities to diff actors, naturally. But one huge movie,n he will be back.
M sure Guzarish is gonna earn his awards,if not anything else.He was Fab in it!

Over-exposure can be bad for a star.

In Aishwarya's case I don't think she suffered because although hyped, her films didn't do great at the box office - although her work was appeciated. Also, only one of them had her dancing around in a filmi ishtyle (Action Replayy) so I think she's safe.

Hrithik - if 'Kites' and 'Guzaarish' were the colossal hits they were dreamt to be then he could have maybe suffered from over-exposure, however the films didn't smash any records - and like Aish, his work was appreciated, so he is all in gains.

At risk of becoming Over-Exposed:
1). Katrina Kaif
For the simple fact that all her films get huge amounts of attention and she is seen every where, whether it is an event or in the gossip mags, or someone else mentioning her name (*cough* Deepika *cough*) - but I think she is playing her cards right somehow, she's managing to keep herself to herself which is a good thing because I imagine if she was a party girl and always out, we would get bored of her.

2). Shah Rukh Khan
He was always on the verge, but he's been very quiet in terms of films over the last 2 years. So he is safe for now.

3). Abhishek Bachchan
Hmmm he seems to be every where, not sure it's a good thing.

Oh Hrithik - I feel bad for him. Kites sucked. And Guzaarish didn't fare all that well either. But he gave a decent performance in Kite and I've been hearing good stuff about Guzaarish. But other than that I don't think he's being overexposed. I think people expect a lot of him and tend to make a big deal about his releases.
Same goes for Aish - four films this year none of them did great though her performances were appreciated. I still say she's moving in the right direction with script choices (minus AR and Robot this year)
I think the most overexposed celebrities for this year have had to have been Deepika (the whole Ranbir break up thing, KWK episode debacle and some other stuff) and on top of it she had a bunch of movies releasing ... haven't seen most of them but I believe she's been getting decent reviews
Another overexposed celeb - Katrina but the overexposure-ness always works to her favour!

i feel imran, deepika, ranbir and sonakshi are really good and should avoid too much of overexposure, should concentrate on their films and acting. There are many people in the industry whom i started hating because of over-exposure esp the bachchan family.

Not entirely true. After his 2nd & 3rd film bombed, he got insecured and signed a bunch of films. So 1990 & 91 he had a lot of releases per year. Most of these films tanked and he went back to one or two films a year after that. He has not done that many commercial films either- most of his hits were just about that: HITs and were quite unconventional films for those times i.e. not typical romance in the mountain types and they were not superhits or blockbusters. Only Dil in 1990 & Raja Hindustani in 1996/97 were blockbusters if I remember correctly. SRK's films were going blocklbuster after blockbuster during the 90s. Aamir was ignored until Raja Hindustani....then people sat up.

The only thing is he got lucky that he had at least 1 movie that became a hit every year and I think that;s where Hrithik got unlucky....but it's been only 10 years! After 10 years Aamir still was not really a crowd puller superstar! Aamir was never a crowd puller in the 90s! It's only after Lagaan and DCH he was considered to be a superstar with some crowd pulling ability....but then he disappeared for 4 years....his comeback film Mangal Pandey tanked....so his superstar status was not until RDB & Ghajini. It's a very recent thing. That's my impression of following him for all these years!

Let's give Hrithik another 10 years at least to see if he can get there!

About the topic....over-exposure is not such a bad thing in today's times. You have to show yourself to let people know you are around....otherwise people forget. These days people have very short memories...they forget what happened 6 months back....so being constantly in the media is not a bad thing at all....it only tells people of today that you are in demand. As I mentioned in my previous post Aamir became a superstar only after he got over his katti with media during TZP....even during RDB he wouldn't talk to the media! Exposing himself to the public and media helped him a lot!

If you want to be low-key and say be like Anil Kapoor or Ajay Devgan...you get hits but you are not over hyped and not seen everywhere....people still want to see you but you will never think of them as superstars. It's all about perception not so much about substance!

So as much as I would love my favorite to not be thrown at my face everyday....if he/she is not stuffed down my throat people are likely to forget and will move onto the next thing- it's the sms generation- fast and furious! 😆 However I still like to believe that for a long long career like Anil Kapoor e.g. it helps to be low key...you don't show all your cards and abilities too quickly and hence can surprise people for years and years without boring them (and yeah good luck also! a slumdog millionaire will also help! 😆)
