A night of 'fusion' earns sky high praise on SRGMP

As the date of the finale draws near, the contestants on Zee TV's Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar are all completely charged up, with every ounce of their energies being put into improving their next performance. All the dedication and hard work definitely showed in this Friday's episode. The show's orchestra was even given the day off as seven renowned musicians from the industry were specially brought in to accompany the contestants so that they performed songs that were a 'fusion' of classical or semi classical & western beats…
And sing their hearts out they did with special guest judge acclaimed actor Raghubir Yadav (Peepli Live) enjoying the highly charged performances & atmosphere. Sugandha was the first to take to the stage with a breathtaking performance of 'More Ghar Aye Sajanva' as she hit all the right notes and wowed each and every mentor with her improvisations. The result?? – A standing ovation from the music masters themselves ofcourse! What else could one ask for at this stage?! The Prince of Ghazals, Ranjeet Rajwada, performed 'Yaad Piya Ki' . Staying true to his traditional ghazal style of singing with an arrangement that it took on a completely different flavour that earned him another standing ovation from the mentors!
Special guest Raghubir Yadav took to the stage with 'Mehengai Dayan Khai Jaat Hai', a song that has reached cult status post Peepli Live. He even went on to regale the audience with an anecdote on the making of the song that involved the local artistes, some kadais, a few spoons and other odds and ends.
