I really wonder why television soaps are being made in our counrty .Are these shows being made to entertain viewers or to depress them. How many of you guys actually had feel good kind of feeling or learnt something form these shows while watching a TV soap on regular basis.

btw, what is entertaining is very subjective, it may vary from person to person, like underwear.

Well, they really are subjective like OBJ puts it. Though what you stand with quite makes sense, producers are earning money depressing people - actors are getting famous promoting glycerine companies, so on and so forth. If there's already so much you've yourself got to deal with, why watch aunties and uncles and their various kids struggle on TV? This is what majority likes - a bit of conspiracy, a lot of melodrama and male actors standing like statues aside. My Dadi and Nani top the list, I cant help but ask Dadi, 'why do Archana and Manav always keep crying?' but she never seems to listen - too engrossed!

BUT, there's meaningful and lighthearted TV too. Take Sasural Genda Phool, for example or well the institution of "Youth Shows", lets just not get into the fact that they get terribly ruined of the idea of 'keep running' the story and then, we have so many reality shows. Most are scripted, but the rest like Emotional Atyachar and all those seriously serious youth disasters can be better stress busters than comedy shows and Kekta actresses put together! 😆

Most are scripted, but the rest like Emotional Atyachar and all those seriously serious youth disasters actually emotional atyachaar isnt a proper cheating show.. they send agents to test loyalty.. not like the original "cheaters" programme which had hidden cams to find out if ppl were already having affairs can be better stress busters than comedy shows and Kekta actresses put together! 😆 true, emotional atyachaar is hilarious!

thats what subjectivity is all about, my friend.. we cant understand why someone else appreciates something.

For example, john cena is very popular in wwe, but I think he's a giant piece of monkey crap, and the rock, stone cold, shawn michaels, rick rude are better than the hack that is john cena anyday :D

She's put in efforts, and thats quite evident. I really hope she does not burst my bubble getting in a werewolf now. 😆 But well, really. . keep aside the lead pair and you'd find a hundreds reasons to watch the show!

I believe it's a very objective thing. For some, TV shows may be really entertaining ( like for me )....n for some it may not be ( like for my brother😆).......As for the ''feel good'' factor, well of course we ( who like watching shows ) get that, or else why we will keep watching that show? 😆
And have we ever learnt something from it?- Well, i guess TV shows are meant for 'enjoyment', not 'learning'! Yeah, of course a show should not profess bad ideas/ideals, but then, one should never watch tv shows thinking that one will ''learn'' something from it! I guess i have never really ''learnt'' any thing significant from a TV show or a film! ( Yeah, shows like Nachle Ve do teach us dancing n all 😊...but i guess you are talking about fiction shows.😊 )

So yeah, i would say- TV shows are entertaining n they should exist on TV!😃 After that, it's your wish to watch it or not; you have the remote after all!😆
