special episode

Well, I'm british and honestly, I've never seen an Indian show before but a friend of mine kept bragging about Maryada and how hot Aditya was, but since I don't really watch things with subtitles I wasn't interested but somehow I ended up watching an episode of Maryada and I instantly fell in love with it. Aditya is so hot! sadly because I only speak English I can't watch episodes before they air on Starplus, but I'm getting off track.

What I wanted to talk about was the special episode, first of all a massive THANK YOU because Aditya's dad did not rape Priya, he tried to but didn't. Sadly because of the time the episode was aired I only saw 35 minutes, I've got the rest recorded and plan to watch it the minute I get a chance, so we know that Priya wasn't raped by Aditya's dad but he did try to and he is the reason her entire life is so messed up! I can't believe he did that.

So how is Priya going to marry Aditya knowing who his father is, I've heard that they get married without Priya and the SSP never meeting but thats just wrong. There eventually going to meet. So are divorces common in Indian programs, only asking because Maryada's the first I've ever seen and if it was a british show, divorce would probably be the next step and Aditya's dad would be in jail but I have a feeling thats not going to happen! And I'm so glad, I want them to get married and I sort of like the SSP apart from being evil, he seems decent

so I want to know what everybody thinks about the whole Priya and SSP thing, I hope thats all sorted before the marriage

P.S I am loving Uttara and her Husband! the man suddenly looks good to me, and apart from wacking his wife, he now seems like a decent bloke!

PPS Is Guarav GAY. I hope not because I love him and Vidya together. I hope he's in love with a woman so that theres the smallest chance that he would fall in love with Vidya, after all she is his best friend and his Wife!

PPPS I love how Deveyani and the SSP have split their sons, Guarav belongs to Deveyani and Aditya goes to the SSP.

Hey Hannah. Welcome to the Maryada forum. 🤗I'm so very happy that you found Maryada interesting because frankly, that's what most (or all) indian programmes just aren't. And yeah, Aditya is quite decent, you'll find many many Aditya fanatics on this forum! 😆 TBH I had no connection whatsoever to indian cultures, their language and had very little interaction with indians in Sydney, which is where I live. Once I started watching this stuff, I found it really addictive and started understanding indian culture, which I was supposed to be all about as i'm an indian living away from india myself. You're REALLY lucky to have subtitles in your episodes as we don't get that 😭 and I have to explain every little thing about the show to my asian friends who watch it with me

Hannah i'm actually not sure if it's even a good thing that she was not raped because it's the same even if she was raped, it leaves the profound effects and you live with those scars for the rest of your life. SSP could have been forgiven for becoming weak in the moment as he was drunk and Priya practically fell on him, but what he did after that was in its true sense disgusting and horrible. He negatively used his power to hide his crime and make life miserable for Priya. Priya wanted justice, and SSP used his power on the local police officers to make sure she didn't get that. He even didn't bother to tell his own wife and is living in the present as if nothing had happened. Sadly, Priya will end up marrying Aditya without seeing SSP and SSP without seeing her as that's what's been happening until now ( at every meeting, SSP takes a call and walks away or Priya is out of the scene) Hannah indian programmes do not encourage divorce, even though if it is necessary and in such cases as abuse and violence in a relationship, what ends up happening is the woman stays quiet for the reputation of the family and that's what is completely wrong in indian programmes!! Maryada is however different, the tagline for the show 'ab tootegi yeh maryada' suggests that the women will not stay quiet, they will break limits, steroetypes set by the indian society and divorce I believe is just one of them. I agree, the actor who portrays SSP is very good, and I doubt we could have gotten any better. My personal favourite is Uttara aka Kamya Punjabi, I love her character and I absolutely adore the actor and loved her when she played a negative character in BMTD as sindoora.

Unfortunately, the sin that SSP has done cannot be solved that easily, and IMO jail isn't enough. Even if he does go to jail for the rest of his life and his police job is taken off him, it will leave deep scars on the family and they will never be able to live happily especially Devyani (his wife). I hope Gaurav is not gay, and I don't think the creative team can go as far as showing him gay as it clearly won't be accepted by indian society and there will be objections by critics and others. Um liking Gaurav-Vidya too but I think their track is a bit weak and needs working on.

Please keep watching Maryada, it's by-far one of the best programmes to be shown on indian television. 😊
