I disagree. I agree that what Sarla did in spreading innuendo about the illicit affair b/w the professor & Priya was vile, since she had little to gain by it. It would be poetic justice if it turned out near the end that Gayatri's daughter & one of Sarla's daughters were accidentally switched, and that the girl that Yuvraj killed was actually his cousin. That way, Sarla still gets punished, but has a daughter @ the end, while Gayatri gets one as well, not just a dharma-putri like Sandhya.
Sunita doesn't know it, and neither do Gayatri or Sandhya, but not only did Sarla help Sandhya & Neeraj out, but after Neeraj's 'death', Sarla went out of her way & risked it by having Savita sent a letter by the hotel boy on how Sandhya was in danger in the Jagirdars' home. That one was not in Jyoti's or Priya's interests: it was just that Sarla was disgusted by a rape being attempted in her home, and did what she could to disable it in future. So I don't agree that Sarla is worst than DK or Pankaj - DK was willing to rape his bahu, while Sarla did what she could to save her twice in a row. In return, Vrinda has been misbehaving w/ her, so can't blame her for joining forces w/ DK against her.
And it brings up one question about Sunita - does she have any loyalty to her family? I agree that she did the right thing by Sandhya by trying to warn her b4 she married Yuvraj, and she should by no means support Prabha & Yuvraj, but this? She knows what happens to women in the family who don't toe Prabha's line, as does Sarla. And unlike her, Sarla has her own 2 daughters & their futures to think about: would Sunita have been fine & dandy w/ Prabha signing off the mansion had she had kids of her own? I agree that Sunita has been badly treated, but I'd hate to have someone in my family like her, who thinks ill even of normal parental concerns.
And Sunita's statement - that everybody is selfish & thinks only of their own kids - is ridiculous!!! Among the men, all 3 bros are proof positive against it, and the only reason Puru goes along is that Prabha controls the family fortune, leaving him w/ little choice. And among the women, Sarla too had been going along w/ Yuvraj - just like Sunita impersonated Sandhya and lied to Savita b'cos she felt compelled, similarly Sarla made a vile accusation against (Gayatri's) Priya & the professor. And while Sunita thinks about her parents, since she has no kids, Sarla does have to think of her kids. And unlike Prabhavati who's willing to commit any #crimes for Yuvraj, Sarla has never committed any crimes for Jyoti or Priya. Hey, she rarely asks for anything for them. She's just turned now b'cos Prabha has signed off the entire property roughshod over her objections, w/o thinking of Jyoti's & Priya's inheritance. That's the minimum right a mom has on her kid's future.
But I loved Sarla yesterday - first, bitching openly about her status in the house, and her smirking when Prabha told her that they are 1 family was just priceless! I liked her exploding about Yuvraj, and in the end, when she asksed what if DK was right, Prabha didn't have an answer.
Sarla at least looks like a normal family member to me. Sunita doesn't.
