Guzaarish was a experiment, not a commercial film

😛 I know we are all wondering why Guzaarish flopped. The truth is, the film lacked one simple thing: entertainment. I am proud that Hritik and Aish did a meaningful film. I don't think they should be dissapointed that this film is a mistake in their respective filmographies. Instead, I see this as a film going into history as another Lamhe or Khamoshi. It will be remembered years from now. The film will surely be remembered for its performances and wonderful music. I think this film should get some critics awards. If Aish was going to retire with this film, it would have been ok. But, she is going to surely do some more films and not go away anytime soon. Same goes for Hritik. The truth is, SLB did an experiment and it was a big gamble that did not pay off. But, the film got mostly positive reviews that the box office quotient will go away in a month's time. I see Hritik/Aish getting some nominations in the awards next year. 👏👏👏

sorry i disagree..guzaarish flopped because it was not an entertaining movie...and by entertainment i dunt mean regular song and dance but basic grip on the script...and plz dunt even compare this to the likes of Lamhe.....Lamhe didnt work back then because the ppl weren't ready to accept such bold themes....but today's audience wants new stories and bold themes which explains the success of all the dev d's, and LSD's.....bottom line is...the audience accept experiments but not bad ones like Guzaarish.

Nope, I'm not wondering why it flopped. I knew it would and it did. It is probably one pretentious mess of a work just like SLB's other movies (except Khamoshi). So yea, audience is sick of his drivel. He should "wake up and smell the coffee" like that writer aptly wrote.

WORD. Who says audience does not accept well written scripts, esp. in this day and age? A lot of "off-beat" films have worked...bheja fry, dev d, a wednesday, peepli live etc. Guzarish flopped because honestly most people are sick of false advertisement.

👏👏👏
Xeta, I haven't seen the movie and hence cannot comment on it! But after watching the highly over-rated Black and then Saawariyan, lost all faith in SLB!
His best, most heartfelt work till date has been Khamoshi, which was coincidentally also his cheapest production till date!
SLB focuses too much on curtains, fabrics, make-up and other asthetics and forgets that there is so much more that makes a motion picture!
PS: He does extract good work from his actors, though!

Yea I don't get it. What is he thinking? Like dude, do you even know who your target audience is? If you want to make a film for the masses, then quit focusing on the minute details, aam junta does not care about the shade, mood the movie is presented in. If your making it for the festival circuit, then put in as much effort for the story, character development and screenplay as you do for the colors and the fabrics.

Yea absolutely. His movies of late are dhobi ka kutta....na ghar ka na ghat ka. The masses don't care enough to understand it and the festival circuits don't think its good enough to be critically accepted. So what purpose does it really serve? Who is his target audience?

SLB tries to give a very utopian feel to his movies! His sets and characters seem like they have just landed to Earth from Mars! Nothing looks real!
There is an artificial air to everything he does...now it works if you are Warner Brother and making Harry Potter series...but it doesn't if you are trying to portray a nurse cleaning up her patient!
I wish SLB would just focus on the story and character development and forget about what material he wants his curtains to be!
PS : That is a common thread in all his films! Curtains...of varying colors and lenghts and fabrics! And all of them flying in the omnipresent breeze!😕
