Yes there are certain similarities in Dutta and his father DP's life patterns. But I would say apart from the few similarities that you mentioned, they are majorly different from each other 😳......
According to me, DP and Dutta are different from each other as far as various aspects are concerned like......
1) Dutta is a very honest and straightforward person, but his father dint seem to be that way.
2) Dutta is a gangster but he had his own principles and he always did things which fell within the limits of goodness and welfare for the society (in most cases). Thats why many people considers him 'devta'. So this shows Dutta is a very selfless person in most cases (who can risk his life for the welfare of others), but his father was a totally selfish and self-centered person. So I would say Dutta is a very good human being unlike his father who never even cared for his family, including his own blood son! DP has been an extremely self-centered man who only lived for himself, but Dutta is living for others - not only for his family but also for the society. Dutta fulfills his 'dharma' and 'karma' properly, like he takes very good care of his family members, be it his mom, his sisters, even his sister's husbands! Forget about family members, when Nakku and family came home as servants, he took very good care of them aswell, and gave them all basic amenities of life (including a secure life). He even sent Nakku's bro to school.
Even you have mentioned about DP's selfish nature, so this is one aspect where Dutta and DP cannot even be compared, as on one had DP doesnt even care about his blood relations (he accidently killed his bro and tried to sell off his son) and here Dutta is taking care of people who are not even directly related to him (with most of them not even having any blood relation with him).
The only thing Dutta is particular about is his 'personal life' which he doesnt like anyone to interfere. So I dont think he can be called 'self-centered' from any angle 😕.
3) Dutta was not blind to goodness and he is not a bad human being or an animal like how he thinks about himself. He has trust issues but the moment he trusts someone, he can blindly follow them through the path they take. He has his virtues. He is a man who very well understands the difference between right & wrong and good & bad. And a person who understands this difference and lives accordingly is DEFINITELY a good human being 👍🏼. But DP was totally different in this respect too.
4) Dutta's main problem is internal issues relating to his behaviour, attitude, emotions and stubburness which makes him think he is a 'bad guy'. Like how Nakku said long time back - Dutta's heart is like children's, he just goes around with a thick and hard exterior to protect his emotions basically and to beware people that they dare not try to hurt or cheat him . Like how I mentioned before, he is like a COCONUT who is hard from outside and soft from inside 😳. Even I felt during the jungle scenes that his 'ego' and 'akkad' was like small boys 😆. Thats why I found it cute the way Jagtap was treating him, and his face always looked like a stubborn kid who has been grounded and scolded by his parents 😆. But DP's problems and character was not this simple.
5) Dutta has pure emotions about love though his definition of love is somewhat flawed, but DP never even had a basic definition or understanding of love.
So with reference to your post I would say there is a tiny similar pattern in the life of Dutta and DP, but apart from these few similarities everything else about them is different 😳.
