| Actor-director Anant Mahadevan has chosen Fardeen Khan to play one of the male leads in his next, Na Na Karte — Believe it or Nuts, produced by HMV.
Producer Harish Dayani tells HiTLIST, "Fardeen fits the role like a glove. He loved the script."
Talking about Fardeen, Mahadevan says, "When Fardeen heard the script, he gave very positive vibes. I instantly knew we had made the right choice. I have seen him giving some very good comic timing in Khushi and No Entry, but my film will have him going through the entire gamut of comic emotions."
Second hero
Mahadevan and Dayani are looking at Emran Hashmi, Kunal Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh to play the second lead. Anupam Kher and Boman Irani will form the balance cast. What about the girls? Says Mahadevan, "Dia Mirza is going to be there. The second slot is still vacant."
What happened to Rimmi Sen? Mahadevan had told HiTLIST (on February 11) that Rimmi was doing Na Na Karte. "Sometimes, when the script unfolds and fleshes out, certain faces tend to fit less or more. We are looking at Bhumika Chawla now."
Juhi ka kamaal
Juhi Chawla plays one of the main roles. "She plays a Bengali girl, Paulomi, who works with Fardeen in the same office. She wants to help Fardeen every time, but lands up adding to his problems."
Na Na Karte is a marital comedy, based on Mahadevan's story, penned by Rajan Joseph (who co-scripted Munnabhai MBBS) and Mayur Puri.
Explains Mahadevan, "The story is about two boys who have reached a marriageable age."
The producer chips in, "Na Na Karte is a situational comedy where every character finds himself in a ticklish situation. The public will not stop laughing at their expense."
The film, to be shot in Mumbai and Rajasthan, was slated to roll in April but will now go on the floors in August. "Fardeen has given us the dates for August," adds the director. |
