Part 1

Sid was completely shattered. The guy whom he considered his big brother and his wife whom he loves dearly have backstabbed him. He was in rage and refused to talk to them. Few days later when his anger almost died down he thought "Why did Riddhima do this to me? What made her do it? Does she still love Armaan? Am i stopping her from uniting with the guy she loves? Doesn't she love me at all?" After lot of thinking, Sid reached in a conclusion that Riddhima still loves Armaan. And so he decides to move aside so that she can be happy with the one she loves.

Sid : Riddhima, i donno what i am gonna do is right or wrong but i guess it will make you happy. What hurts me the most is you hid it from me. If you had told me at least once that you still love Armaan i would have never come in between you. I am an idiot to think that you have gotten over him and now loves me. I am sorry it's my mistake.

Riddhima : No Sid, bu buh but.. it was just.. an accident.. a mistake that should have never happened.. i am sorry Sid, please forgive me... i beg you..

Seeing Riddhima breaking down like that made him more weaker.

Sid: Please Riddhima.. please stop crying.. i cant see you like this... I wanna see you happy... always.. if it's with me or someone else it doesn't matter.. i just wanna see you happy... so please, please stop crying.

By saying it he wiped her tears with his finger and also manage to hide the tear in his eyes that was threatening to come out any moment.

He then grabbed her wrist and started walking. Riddhima followed without uttering a word but still her eyes fixed on Sid.

Meanwhile Armaan was on the terrace waiting for Sid. Sid hadn't spoken to him after that incident. And so when Sid asked Armaan to wait for him on the terrace he was skeptical. And when Armaan saw Sid & Riddhima walking towards him, all the blood on his face flushed out. He sensed something bad was going to happen. But all his fears disappeared when Sid started speaking.

Sid stood right in front of Armaan. He had left his hold from Riddhima's hand but she was still standing beside him, staring at him. She was surprised rather shocked to see Armaan there.

Sid finally broke the silence.

Sid : So i guess that's it guys... My role here is over. I will never be an obstacle between you both. Never ever again. She is all yours. Actually she was always yours.

Sid tried to smile as he said that. Both Armaan and Riddhima stood their in utter-shock! While Armaan continued to be skeptial Riddhima stayed numb.

Sid continued:

"Riddhima, i promise you, this marriage will never stop you from doing what your desire. And i'll make sure you are set free from all the chains of society."

By saying this he took her hand in his, kissed on the back of her palm and placed it in Armaan's!

Armaan tightened his grip on her hand so as to never let her go again. Riddhima stayed still, like a stone, without responding.

"Armaan, i know i dont have to say this to you but still for my assurance, promise me that you will make her happy always. Promise me that you will never hurt her and promise me that you will never abondened her like you did before."

Armaan nodded his head in agreement.

"Riddhima, trust me, i never regret marrying you. You will always hold a special place in my heart! After all you are my dearest wife... oops soon to be dearest ex-wife" He winked at them which made a tear drop escape from his eyes. He quickly turned his head to hide it from the two and wiped it off in a jiffy.

As Sid started walking back facing them, he continued.

"You guys don't have to feel bad about me or anything. I'll be fine." He tried to smile so as to show them he is OK! "I am taking a break for a while guys so i wont be around for a while. But i'll definitely comeback to see you both. Meanwhile if you plan to get hiteched better send me an invite" He could feel his voice breaking and so he stopped talking. When he reached the stairs he raised his hand to wave at them but it dint move. He stood there for a moment to capturing his wife's image, turnded around and walked off from there in a hurry.

The shock in Armaan's face has now made way for a grin. He found it hard to differetiate if whatever happened was a dream or reality. Once he was convinced that it's not a dream he hugged Riddhima who stayed stiff.

PART 2

Days passed by. Riddhima shifted to her parents house. She found it really difficult to stay in the penthouse as Sids memmories haunted her. Ridhhima still couldn't believe Sid has left her with Armaan. Dr. Shashank and Padma were still clueless why Sid took off all of a sudden.

Armaan on the otherhand was back to his best. Happy and jovial. He was doing his bit to win Riddhima back completely. From naming a star to gifting innumerable roses and teddy's he did everything that should make Riddhima happy. Armaan was in high spirits, like a kid who got his favorite toy back. Riddhima tried to be happy seeing the smile back on Armaan's face but everytime she tried to smile her heart ached. Probably still guilty by the fact that she has ruined someone's life.

A week later, Shashank got a call while he was at home. It was an international number. He recieved the call.

Shashank : "Hello, Sid, Sid? beta is it you?"

Riddhima was fidgetting with the tv remote. Though she was staring at the television her mind was wandering like a bird trying to find it's nest. On hearing Sid's name Riddhima turned to where Shashank was standing. She left the tv remote and came running and stood near Shshank tensed.

Shashank "Beta, where are you now? WHy did you took off like that? I asked Riddhima even she isn't telling anything. Is everything alright between you both"?

Sid : "Dad, dad relax. I am in Houston now. I am fine. Dad i am sorry i cant be with Riddhima anymore. We have decided to end this marriage. And please dad don't ask Riddhima anything, it's with our mutual consent. Hope you understand... Is Riddhima around"?

Shashank gave the reciever to Riddhima. There were mixed emotions on his face. He looked shocked, sad, angry... He stood his ground staring at Riddhima. But on her request he left her alone on the phone with Sid and retrieved to his room.

Riddhima : Sid, where are you, you okay?

Sid : I am good Riddhima, I am back in Houston. You tell me, how is it going with you? How's Armaan? Are you fine? Are you happy?

Sid could hear Riddhima sobbing on phone

Sid : Riddhima, Riddhima are you crying?

Riddhima : No Sid, i am so happy to hear you voice. I was so worried

Sid : Lol you were worried that i might suicide leaving your name in my suicide note?"
He responded with a cruel joke

Riddhima : Sid!

Sid: Okay, i'm kidding! Now listen, you will get a surprise in a day or two. Now please cheer up. I din't leave you to be sad like this. I told you i am fine. I am happy and gay"

As he stressed on the last word, he could hear Riddhima laughing on the other side.

Sid: Thank god! I thought i'll have to call up Armaan and fire him for bot cheering you up! OKAAY before you say anything...! I was kidding!"

Though Riddhima was silent she still had a grin on her face. And Sid somehow knew it.

Sid: Okay Riddhima you take care, i'll talk to you later.

Riddhima : I miss you Sid...

Sid was silent for a moment but the said "i miss you too Riddhi.." He disconnected before finishing his sentence. He was afraid his voice might break and all the build up he gave about himself for Riddhima would collapse.

Riddhima was happy to hear a "cheerful" Sid. She was happy that he is moving on pretty well. Most of all she was happy that he is safe and in good health. The smile on her face vanished when she saw Shashank & Padma in front of her.

"Riddhima! Will you tell us what's going on"? A stern Shashank questioned her. When Riddhima was about to mumble something the phone rang again.
It was Sid.

Sid: Hello? Papa? hmmm.... I thought someone assured me a while back that you wouldn't question Riddhima!

Shashank : I agree it's between you and her but i am her father and i have evry right to know why you abondened her!

Riddhima got to know that it was Sid.

Sid: "Papa i am sorry but i had no other option. But you should understand that i left her for her own good! We can continue living like this but your daughter..." he quickly corrected " i mean neither of us wil be happy" "And don't worry about her, Armaan will be there for her. She will be way happy with him than she ever was with me. Now my only request to you is please don't say NO if Armaan approaches you for Riddhima. Please consider it. Forget about society and all. If you want to see your daughter happy give her hand to Armaan. Now please i beg you, dont ask anything further. Trust me, this is the right thing. And don't ask Riddhima also anything. I don't want her to be upset for anything. Please try and understand papa..."

Shashank : "I cant promise you anything, but i'll try"

Sid : Thanks dad.

Shashank left the reciever on the stand and sat on the couch. Padma stared at Riddhima and went to sit near Shashank. Riddhima esaped to her room to avoid further questions.

Riddhima was lying on her bed staring at the ceiling. She had a smile on her face but it disappeared when a deep voice startled her.

"Thinking about me?"

Riddhima looked at the man behind the curtain and was shocked!

"Thinking about me?"

The voice startled Riddhima, she turned around to see Armaan coming from behind the curtains.

Riddhima : A.. ar Armaan! Tum yaha? Is waqt?

Armaan: Well... the right has been bestowed upon me to see if you are alright you see.
He winked at her.

Riddhima wasn't expecting Armaan there and so she was really annoyed. Then it occured to her that Sid must have spoken to him. The thought brought a smile on her face.

Riddhima : "Sid"

Armaan : What?

Riddhima : You spoke to Sid?

Armaan : No why? He moved to the bed and sat next to her.

Riddhima : He called up a while ago!

Armaan : Really? How is he? Where is he no?

Riddhima : Back in Houston. He sounded happy.

Armaan : "Hmm.. He must have hooked up with some girl there."
Armaan laughed but it faded away soon when he saw Riddhima clenching her teeth as she spoke. "Stop it Arrrmmaan"

"Woaahh, relax madam!" Armaan waited for her to calm down and continued
"You dont expect him to stay single forever do you? He will have to move on eventually."

Armaan : You want him to move on and be happy right?

Riddhima : Yes

She wasn't looking at Armaan, but had her eyes firmly on the wall, as though she could see the furure being played like a movie on the wall.

Armaan put his arm around her shoulder. "Don't worry, he will be fine. He did the right thing.He did the best thing for three of us"

Riddhima was surprisingly quiet. Armaan knew she would take time to recover from all the mess and so he waited patiently for her to clear her mind so that they can kick-start their life together.

"Alright listen, i will talk to your dad tomorrow about us. I am thinking we should avoid a fancy wedding and settle for a court marriage. I guess even you prefer that after what has happened. Really these "rasams" and stuffs are bogus! What matters is you love me and i love you. Our love is enough for a lifelong happiness. We are destined to be together basket! Or just imagine you took 7 well 14 infact! 14 "pheres" with Sid and din't even complete 1 janam with each other and i din't have to wait for the 15th janam to make you
mine! Well i don't even know how many janams are there all together! That's why i am telling you it's all bogus! Only love is real!" He smirked

Armaan's words echoed in her ears. She felt disgusted and cheap as she realized she has insulted all the possible rituals between a man & wife. The rituals she believed in so much... If Armaan himself is saying all this she imagined what the society must be talking about her. She felt the immense pain and insult her parents will have to face. She could feel her body heating up and in the next moment she clutched Armaans arm and was crying like a little kid.

Armaan : "Basket, basket... what happened?" Tell me what happened!"

Armaan was worried

Riddhima : "Are we doing the right thing Armaan"?

Armaan : Of course we are! We love each other and we decides to be together! That's it! As simple as that! Do you love me? Riddhimaa?

Riddhima paused for a second and said "yes.."

Armaan : That's it then nothing else, or no one can stop us from being together!

Riddhima : But you are not thinking about the pain my family will have to go through because of me! They will be ridiculed in public

Armaan : Riddhima... for them what matters is your happiness! And you happiness is with me! You "suffered" enough in the name of "marriage" You were "NEVER" happy with Sid! Your happiness is with me Riddhima, with me!"

Riddhima : "But i was 'happy' with Sid"

Armaan : "But you were not in love with him right...?"

Annoyance started creeping in Armaan

Riddhima : I guess i was not...

Armaan : You guess?? What the hell you mean by that now?

Riddhima was taken aback by Armaan's sudden change in behaviour. She left her clutch on his arm and moved aside so that she could shee his face.

Riddhima "Armaan..."

Armaan : Answer me Riddhima! What did you mean by that? That you cold have fallen in love with him? That if i hadn't come you would have happily moved on with him??

Riddhima : I don't know...!

Armaan : You dont know?? Annoyance had now been taken over by anger.

Riddhima : I DONT KNOW ALRIGHT! she screamed

Armaan was brought back in his sense with that. He felt guilty for his behaviour. He apologised to her and said

"Riddhima... i am sorry.. i guess i should leave now... I'll see you in the morning..."

He placed a quick peck on her forhead and left the place.

Riddhima was motionless, her eyes had swollen with tears.

As the night fell, she comforted herself under the blanket and re-winded the day's sequences! From Sid's phone call to Armaan's conversation. Slowly but steadily sleep took over her.

PART 4

Shashank and Padma were discussing about what could have happened between Sid & Ridz that they both decide to call it quits. But seeing the state in which Riddhima is in, they found it better to leave her alone for a while.

Riddhima seemed lost in her thoughts most of the time. Ever since Sid left she seem really absent minded. Always in deep thoughts. More than often her presence was just physical but her mind wandered like a free flowing river.

Though Armaan said he would be coming to Gupta's next morning he couldn't do so as he had an early shift in Sanjeevani. He was in the locker room when Riddhima came.

Armaan : Hey Basket!

Riddhima responded with a smile. She walked towards her locker to get her steth as Armaan's eyes followed her. He was about to start a conversation when they heard the announcement. "Dr. Riddhima, you are wanted in Dr. Shashank's cabin" She looked at Armaan and the walked towards the cabin.

In cabin

Shashank : Hi beta, this is for you.
He handed over a cover to her. She took out the album from the cover. It was Siddhant & Riddhima's wedding album, 2nd wedding album.

"Got it this morning" Shashank said.

Without even saying a word she left the cabin staring at the album cover. Photo of a "happy married couple" She kept turning each pages as she walked and soon a smile appeared on her face. A smile fit for a bride. She dint realize she reached the nurse station. Armaan with other interns were waiting for her to assign duties to them. But her reaction took everyone by surprise. Armaan saw the way Riddhima was smiling and she felt happy. But as his eyes fell on the album in Riddhima's hand his smile fainted.

Armaan: Riddhima....? RIDDHIMA!

The voice startled her and the beautiful wedding album fell from her hand. She stared at the album on the floor and then at Armaan. She was about to say something when she realized they were not alone. She picked up the album from the floor an assigned duties to the interns and went to the locker room. She kept the album safe in the locker and went to the washroom.

Riddhima thinking : Is this the surprise Sid was talking about? But why Sid! You say i dont have to feel guilty about anything and you do stuffs that makes me so guilty that i want to kill myself.

She washed her face in cold water to calm herself down.

On the other side Armaan was cursing Sid.

Armaan thinking : "I know what you are trying to do Sid! You are doing all this to make Riddhima feel guilty so that she will comeback to you. Nice game Sid but i tell you you will lose badly because you are pitted against Armaan Malik"

The day moved slowly but steadily. As a counter attack to the wedding album Armaan kept sending Riddhima roses every now and then. Each rose carried a photo of Armaan-Riddhima's past with it.

As the day ended Riddhima had around 30 roses and photos with her. As she was winding up her days duty she saw Armaan in locker room and confronted him

Riddhima : "What's all this Armaan?"

Armaan : "It's my love for you my jaan" He gave her a quick peck on her cheek as he said that.

Riddhima once again dint react but continued

"You don't have to do all this"

Armaan : "I am not doing this for you but for myself. I am celebrating your comeback basket" He winked at her.

Riddhima finally smiled seeing Armaan smiling like a little kid.

Riddhima : "Okay Armaan i'll see you tomorrow... and thanks for the roses"

Armaan : "hoye hoye"

GUPTA HOUSE

Padma : Riddhima there is a courier for you beta.

Riddhima came down from her room signed and collected the courier.

She opened it and read it.

Padma noticed Riddhima's face dropping as she read the paper.

Padma : "What is it beta"

Riddhima : "Divorce papers"

She said that as she walked quickly towards her room.

She locked the door and read the document again. She saw Sid's signature on the husbands space... She ran her fingers through it and stopped when she reached her name and the space where she will have to sign...

She held the papers tightly and walked towards the window. She remembered the last time when Sid had given her the divorce papers and she taught to herself...

"Oh god... why did i let it not happen the first time he gave me those papers. It wouldn't have hurt so much like it's hurting now. And why is the sting in my heart if this is what i wanted... But i don't love him... I don't love Sid... Then why does it hurt so much god... And if this is the pain i am going through.. how much it must be hurting Sid..."

As she indulged herself in this random thoughts her mobile rang. She picked up the call. The voice on the other side was like a sudden shower in the hot desert for her.

"Riddhima... How are you?

Riddhima : Sid...

There was a pause and the conversation continued

Sid : Got my surprise..?

That's when Riddhima realized the surprise Sid was talking about was the divorce papers and not their wedding album! She once again felt guilty for misunderstanding Sid.

Riddhima : Yes... the papers....

Sid : I know you already have those papers with you.. But from that time till today a lot of things happened... I thought it will be better to get new papers so that we can add all the new memories that happened after the first time and do everything afresh. Also last you weren't happy when i gave you the papers... Hope this time you are... You are happy no Riddhima...?

Riddhima : hmm....

Pause:

Riddhima : Sid...

Sid : Yes?

Riddhima : I... i.. got our wedding album?

Sid : After a pause he started laughing.. hmm... nice..

Riddhima : Shall i send it to you?

Sid : LOL No Riddhima.. it's fine.

Pause :

Sid : Ok Ridz i'll keep now. I'll talk to you later..

Riddhima : Will you call again?

Sid : Only of you want me to...

Riddhima : Yes...

Sid : Hmm.. oki then.. Bye.. you take care!

Riddhima : You too Sid.. Bye..

After few seconds her phone rang again. She quicky answered the call

Riddhima : Sid?

After a pause

"Armaan... it's Armaan"

Riddhima : "Oh i am sorry i thought it was Sid..."

Armaan :"Ya whatever! I was trying to call you since past 10 minutes but your number was busy!"

Riddhima : "Was talking to Sid"

Armaan irritated

"Sid SID SID!! When will you stop talking about that guy.. He..

Riddhima cuts him in between and continued

"He called up to ask if i got the divorce papers"

Armaan softened up and continued

"You got the papers?"

Riddhima : Yes

Armaan : Good, you sign it and keep it ready. i'll collect and do the rest. You don't worry about anything.. i'll take care of everything.

He continued:

"I think i'll talk to your dad after submitting all the documents then.."

Riddhima : hmm...

Armaan : "You are happy right?"

Riddhima : hmmm..

Armaan "I love you"

Riddhima : after a pause.. "me too"
