Do the Bachchans still excite moviegoers?

😲 Some people ask why I never made a topic about the Bachchans. Well, now I am making one and want to know if the Bachchans still excite moviegoers. Judging by the recent box office, that is not the case. Despite Abhishek's and Aish's hardworking attempts in Raavan, their movie sank without a trace. Is the public still excited by them? Hate to say it, but clearly no. That is why Aish's just released Robot and her upcoming films (Action Replay, Guzaarish) are not with her husband. And there has been no recent news of Abhishek and Aish signing any new films together for 2011. Maybe a rumor here and there, but I strongly think that the Raavan debacle has hurt their changes bigtime of doing another film together.
And what about Amitabh? His last few films went unnoticed and Jaya barely does anything anymore these days.
What happened to the chemistry of Aish/Abhishek in Guru? They were very popular before and after the first year of their marriage. Then, the excitement went way.
Do you think the Bachchans still excite moviegoers or going through a bad patch? Will they bounce back? Only time will tell. 🥱

i think you do make topics on bachchans, indirectly😛

Today, audience really doesn't care who is in the movie but how the promotion attracts the viewer. How many of us really cared for Dabangg?? I remember while they were shooting at the mall we all were making fun, but as soon we saw the promo we(mostly) all went crazy and excited to watch the movie. Amitabh is a great actor but sadly he's wasting his talent along Abhishek. As for Ash i really don't know what she's doing these days. The last movie i loved of her was Raincoat. She needs to do movies where she could show her talent and not the beauty and Guzarish doesn't impress me at all. But i hope we get to see more of Jaya, she was excellent in K3G.

Still???? I don't think I was ever excited about them. I mean the only person that can give a genuine performance in that family is Jaya B but she to has become an angry old lady making weird/acerbic comments, case in point....@ Vivek Oberoi, Shiv Sena etc. ABSr. cannot handle criticism at all and lashes out at anything and everything in his little black blog. Aishwarya's beauty always overshadows her acting potential (the little that she has shown in few films) and there's little left to like in her off screen personality, the icy smile and beauty pageant answers leave me cold. Poor Abhisekh seems like good enough guy but can never seem to break out of his dad's and wife's shadow and make it on his own.

What's so exciting about this family....I fail to understand.

No matter what people say (including me), Bollywood is incomplete without the Bachchans. Yes they have seen many failures, but they have excelled in various diff ways. Amit ji can still act, his performances are still better and at par with any new comer boys, Abhishek has seen a lot of failure, but he boy can give sincere performances, he isn't the best actor but given the right role, guru, bluff master, yuva the guy can shine, he has sorta beaten the odds and has tried to be an unconvetional hero in movies. Ash with her international visibility, her endorsements and her walking down to places where no Indian actress has gone before, defying age stereotypes in bollywood, is also making some sort of a diff. I would say that I love to hate the bachchans, but their interesting spirit is amusing.

Completely agree with you. Aish has done a few good movies, which over make-up didnt done his work, but just her acting has been showing. But unfortunately these days glamour works more in in this industry.

Amitabh Bachchan has done a alot of good movies, but these days he has become very diplomatic and his choice of movies become also very down. He is trying to match his level with youngstars, which doesnt suit him. Movies like WAQT and Black suit him more. People also will appreciate his work, if he doesnt try extra hard.

None of them ever excited me. I mean, sure I liked a few AB Senior movies along with Jaya B's earlier movies like Guddi and Chupke Chupke but in recent times, I would not pay $$ to go to the theater to watch them.

I love Abhishek's tweets and interviews and he seems like a genuinely funny and honest guy. Yet, initially he was always compared to Amitabh and now internationally, he is going to be known as Aish's husband. I am just glad he isn't letting the ego get in the middle of it.

Aish... I could never warm up to her. I have liked her in a few movies like HDDCS and Taal but she usually wastes her talent looking pretty and doing stupid movies like Action Replay and Robot... even then, there is something about her that puts me off.

So, no... as of now I don't think i would pay to watch any of the Bachchans except for maybe Abhishek :)

🥱 I also thought Raincoat was one of the best works in 2004. Aish really did good in that movie. I wonder why Ritupharno Ghosh and Aish have never done another film together. I thought her work was good in Guru, Provoked, Jodhaa Akbar, Sarkar Raaj, and Umrao Jaan. Most actresses would die to get the roles I just mentioned. Anyway, I really wonder how Aish can still be a commercial heroine after the age of 37. I saw clips of Action Replay for her recent song and she looked so graceful! Her screen presence is undeniable! However, she cannot dance around trees forever! 😭 We all know Guzaarish revolves around Hritik. But, Bhansali never wastes Aish and I am sure she has a strong role. She is playing his nurse, the caretaker is a very crucial role in the movie! It probably won't be a strong role like Devdas or HDDCS, but that's ok. Recently, Aish signed movies with Vishal Bhadwarj and Shyam Benegal. I think these directors will give her powerful women-oriented roles. I wanted Aish to work with Karan Johar, but I want her to stay away from him. If he couldn't do justice to Kajol's and Kareena's talent in We Are Family, I am skeptical of what he could possibly offer Aish. I think in the next couple of years, Aish will not focus on international projects to much after Pink Panther 2's debacle. If she can work with a Shyam, Vishal, and I am hoping for at least another project with Ritupharno Ghosh's calibre, then I will be happy! 👏

But, I agree with the first comment! These day things are becoming a lot about promotion. Whaterever you say about bachchans I haven't seen them carrying very big publcity stunts just to promote their movies. They didn't do any crazy promotion for raavan, which is a flawed product but still the final offering is much better than many movies. These days publicity has become more important than even delivering a good product.

I love Amitabh Bachan this man can seriously act. Obviously i havent seen any of his old movies but he blew me away in Khakee, Family and Sarkar. I loved the ending of Sarkar 2 , that role was played perfectly by him . I also have a fav. scene from KANK when he tells Dev "good joke" when thr at the dinner table.
