Music: Oldies vs. Mainstream?

Greetings 😊

I feel that music nowadays doesn't have the same beat and meaning as they used to back in the 70s and 80s (and 90s to some extent). Oldies had that sense of feeling great and relaxed every time you listen it.

On the contrary, most songs nowadays sounds the same (similar lyrics and beats). Singers who can barely sing are on top of billboard music charts (thanks to autotune).

So what are your thoughts on mainstream music in general?

Also, which type of musica do you listen to? Which would you rather prefer and why?

P.S. Thanks for answering.

I don't go by the decades....I like whatever appeals to my ears.....that means all Mohd. Rafi songs are in the top charts for me........I like some new songs too....it would be unfair to say that all new music is trash......AR Rahman is good...

I learn classical music, and indeed old Indian music has a certain soothing ring to it. I am totally into music and I generally do not go by which year was the song composed in. Cause, these days there are like hundreds of meaningless songs and wall-cracking singers, like you pinpointed yet, there's still a lot of good music left.

Old music definitely is a lot better in comparison, however even today there are a lot of songs that hold the same ring, I mentioned above. 😃
