DEV's Baby or MAAN's Baby

The bone of contention in this forum seems to stem from the fact that Geet is pregnant with Dev's child, and they'd rather it be Maan's. How come nobody gives any importance to the person who will be bringing this child into the world? The baby is GEET'S. It is a part of her, regardless of who fathers it. Some forumers seem to have a bizzare, warped sense of romanticism associated with the baby's genetic makeup. I ask you, does it really matter who the father is? With GEET as the mother, I don't think so. People need to step out of their 'filmi duniya', and perhaps try and accept that fact that, though biologically the child is Dev and Geet's, it is GEET (and probably Maan) who will raise him or her. And sometimes, relationships from the heart are stronger than relationships through blood.

The baby is Geet's! It is a part her, she is the one who is bearing brunt of bringing this child into this world. And if we think along this line then the father (whoever he is) becomes secondary.

As for the generic make-up of the baby, does it really matter? NO!The importance should be on whether the child would have a decent and loveable upbringing. And it is not necessary that the biological father will always be a 'good' father. Therefore Maan may become better a father figure to this child then Dev could ever be. Like you said "relationships from the heart are stronger than relationships through blood."

COMPLETELY AGREE W? U..the baby is not of maans or dev..esp dev since he left her stranded like tht...the baby is purely geet's she went thru so much pain to save him/her...

Exactly, I think fighting over whether the baby should be Dev's or Maan's undermines all that Geet has gone through.

Who are we to hate this child when she does not? Who are we to shun this child when she has accepted it. After all it is HER child. Take it from a person who is a Psychology major, a persons nature can always be changed with nurture. If Maan and Geet can raise the child properly (which I have no doubt in my mind that they will) from the start the child should have a normal life. Now what if the child finds out who the real father is? Yes at first it will be shock, but at the end the child will hate that biological father for what he did to her mother.

Just because you do not share the same blood or DNA with someone does not mean you cannot have a deeper relationship than with a person who does share your DNA. Relationships are built more with human emotions and the mind, than DNA and blood. It is your mind who chooses who to love not your blood or DNA. If a person has loved you your life life and raised you with love and care, it is only natural that you love them back. If a person has treated you with hate and cruelty, it is only natural that you do the same.

No child deserves to die because their biological father abandoned them. Why should Geet's child suffer when it does have two parents; Maan and Geet? Geet's child is so lucky even before it is born, because it will have a father like Maan.

Thanks, you summed my thoughts up, especially in the bolded parts. One of my best friends is adopted by her step-father (and for a long time, her biological father wasn't in the picture). The relationship that she shares with that man is something I envy, and wish I had with my dad. I don't see why adoptive relationships have such a negative connotations in our world?
