In short I agree with what you said in regards to kesar being the classic battered woman. It is very easy for outsiders like us to pass judgement that she has to fight for her rights but the push and courage has to come from her and not pratigya. Pratigya can be her supporter but the change or willingness to change has to come fro
Kesar herself.

Ther are lots of factors that are against kesar. She has no support system unlike pratigya who can run to her parents at free will. She is uneducated whereas P is educated. Her own mentality of what a wife and dil also plays a part. She is totally dependent on the takhurs whereas P has the advantage of being independent if the situation arises. I think P needs to show her the possibility of a different life by encouraging her to understand that she does not need to suffer, build her confidence. When kesar has the courage to make the comment will be the time when kesar wants to do it for herself rather being probed into doing it. The fight should come from her and not pratigya as she is the one who will face the consequences and not pratigya
