I'm not addicted or on facebook all day and all night, but I definitely do use facebook to keep in touch with a lot of people all over the world. Childhood friends, high school friends, and now friends I went to college with who've moved on to grad school. In fact, facebook helped me regain touch with SO many childhood friends that I probably would never have met or talked to again if it weren't for facebook.

Facebook has enough protection on it. Make your profile totally private - heck, make yourself unsearchable if you want. I think people who leave their FB profiles open to public are looking for trouble. What is the point of showcasing your personal photos to the whole world? Arrogant, much? And if you have a private profile, make sure you only add people you KNOW and that too in real life. Not someone you met online, or someone you think you know, or anything of the sort. People who you personally know. Also, its not always necessary that everyone you know should be on facebook. For example, people like employers are probably better kept away from your personal life.

As far as vulnerable groups go, its the parents that should be keeping an eye on what their children are doing online. I say facebook shouldn't be allowed until kids are in high school. Way too much drama for kids younger than that. And as parents, it is their job to keep track of things their kids do online. Its when parents fail to do their job that youngsters become vulnerable and involved in such chaos.

I echo this 100%.👏👏 Any Internet site becomes dangerous only when the person in question lets it.....even IF can be dangerous if people showcase their person information all over it. Likewise, facebook can be safe if one makes everything private.
However, one should always be alert with Internet sites. None of them are very safe.

My friends ask me to come online on FB at so and so time and I can't tell you how frustrated I feel. Man, FB is too much of a hype. You like an application, use it . . . don't bug people with it at least.

And the worst part, even though it's completely totally full-on useful when it comes to keeping in touch with people you don't meet often, it's more of a bane these days reason being - all people talk about is FACEBOOK. That really is annoying. 😕

Hmmm...ultimately we are trading intimacy with familiarity. Most of my friends on FB are ppl I know just as aquinatance. We barely talk to each other face to face but on FB we chat about the most random topics like we are best friends. It does make us shrug off our shyness. But still face to face we are not any more than strangers....

FB is cool. but should ahve a certain age limit. its not for KIDS, my friends sis is ony around 7 and has a FB. its ridiculous, but banning FB wont solve anything. cuz a new site will jus come along. myspace, FB, and now twiiter. ppl take these sites to seriously and sometimes even end up getting hurt
