The domestic help of actor Shiney Ahuja, who had accused him of raping her about a year ago, has reportedly backtracked from her allegation.

In a dramatic twist to the infamous case that saw the actor behind the bars for several months, his maid told a fast-track court that she was never raped, a news channel reported.

She reportedly told the court that she had slapped false charges against Ahuja on the instructions of the woman who got her the job at his household.

The latest development however has raised several questions. Was it the result of a huge pay off to silence the maid? But the case is unlikely to be closed easily because Ahuja has already confessed to the crime.

Besides, DNA evidence and medical reports have also confirmed rape. The public prosecutor in the case has indicated that the trial will continue and the maid has been declared a hostile witness after her U-turn.

The maid had lodged an FIR in June 2009 at Oshiwara police station alleging that she was raped by the actor at his flat. In her complaint she had also claimed Ahuja threatened her with dire consequences if she spoke about the incident.

Ahuja was arrested on June 14. He spent over three months in jail before he got out on bail on October 1. The police filed a 109-page charge sheet against the accused with statements of 12 witnesses, forensic reports and other documentary evidence.

the maid should be severely punished for making a mockery of the judicial system !!!!!

obviously she has received a huge settlement for withdrawing her statement and should face the consequences !!!!

similar thing had happened in the best bakery case where the main witness " Zahira sheikh " had lied on oath after receiving money ... she actually had to face perjury charges .... hoping for the same in this case as well

Who knows...maybe Shiney threatened her or her family and maybe its is cuz of money. Either way, Shiney should pay if he did the crime.

If you know the judicial system in India and the way known criminals get away scot-free after silencing witnesses, you would have some sympathy for the maid. What she is doing is wrong, but she must be under tremendous pressure.
