Shabbir Ahluwalia, the co-host of Meethi Choori No. 1, which has Dimpy as one of its contestants, tells TOI that the participants are racing to come last in the show!
It's said that the theme of Meethi Choori No 1 on Imagine is based on back-biting and talking negatively about fellow contestants. Being a co-host of the show, do you agree?
It's a chat show where eight girls talk about everything under the sun. There is no back-biting on the show. The girls talk about things in the open. Whatever is said on the show is done in
good humour. There could be mild undercurrents between the contestants.
Is there any attempt to pull anyone down?
No. The girls are pulling each other's leg.
So, is there any question of backstabbing?
No. The girls are present together on the show. There's no scope of anyone talking behind the back. Girls are outdoing each other but there is no question of backstabbing.
How difficult is it to host a show where celebs are openly trying to out do each other?
There are chances of things taking an ugly turn. But as a co-host one has to make sure that everything goes in the humour zone. It's important for all the contestants to take things sportingly. Otherwise, things can turn nasty. There's no attempt at creating an artificial sense of melodrama. Celebs aren't bitching about each other. Nobody is slapping another contestant.
Whatever is being done is all out in the open. There isn't any winner in this kind of a chat show. It's a fun thing and the concept is unique. Nobody actually wants to be a winner here. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The contestants (Sweta Salve, Rakshanda Khan, Urvashi Dholakia, Karishma Tanna, Shweta Tiwari, Ragini Khanna, Rupali Ganguly, Yami Gautam, Veebha Anand, Neha Marda) are all racing to become the last one in the show!
Dimpy Ganguly-Mahajan has also been featured in one of the episodes. How did she come across?
Dimpy is sweet. Whatever has been written about her personal life is very unfortunate. She came in a single episode. It was a Dulhania special where all those who were trying to woo Rahul were there. It was fun.
Was Nikunj present on the show too?
No.
Do you think Dimpy's recent controversy will help in generating publicity for your show?
I don't really know. The show is very independent of whatever has happened in her real life. It's complete unrelated.
If you were a viewer and not related to the show, would you be interested in watching it because Dimpy was being featured there?
I have followed her story. I've just read it. On a personal note, I don't think her saga will impact the show's TRP
