I don't get the adulation for Abhijeet Sawant. I didn't watch II 1 and watched a few of his videos online. He is good and in sur but not great. Somehow I think people adore him more because he was the first guy to win.

This season was particularly memorable for me because I followed it along with discussing various things about it at these forums. And that made me go into more details of the show, plus sharing our love for our fav contestants was another thing that we all had fun doing.
I'll keep on posting my thoughts on everything soon.

Judges:

Anu Malik - Extremely disappointed with him this year. Previously, at least he held a strong opinion regarding the performances and people even compared him to Simon Cowell of American Idol, because he used to be critical about liking or disliking a performance. I felt he was just there to do poetry, and simply, allowed others to make fun of him. I hope he realizes that. But I did appreciate the kind of excellent praises that he bestowed upon Sreeram. So, overall Anu Malik was okay for me, definitely not the high-light of the show.

Sunidhi - A genuine critic, careful listener and excellent singer. She was the one whom I eagerly anticipated to listen to. Although, by the end of the competition, she also started to stop being critical at all and rather became repetitive, for which I think, the basic reason might have been that she didn't want to cause somebody to leave because of her bad comments. But, overall, she has been the highlight from the judges panel.

Salim - At the beginning of the competition, he seemed quite critical and helpful. But as the show progressed, he became repetitive and just became a source of the same good praise every time. When a contestant gives a good performance and you praise it, I admire that. But when a contestant does not give a good performance, and still you continue to say the same thing you said in the last episode, that is something irritating. But, he has been a humble and kind person, no doubt, but I had high expectations from him as a judge.

loved salims smile....no major drama from anu malik.....sunidi looked very pretty...fav. guest judge Ashaji and fav. epiode R.D.Burman...sreeram was expected to win from first...bhoomi has a powerful voice...rakesh sang only romantic songs...shivam had lot of sonu nigam ke harkatein...swaroop was quite entertaining...tia didnt perform well...naushad got eliminated quick...manisha started losing confidence after her first song...megna had a nice voice but audience prefered others with X-factor..shashi was kinda overconfident thinking gals were not that good...there was another overconfident guy who found fault with naushad...sadly no wild card entry... overall okay season...

hello everyone, thank you all for your valuable comments....sorry that i missed out all the discussions so far this month as i was in india (ironical, eh??😆) and also for health reasons....anyways, this season was quite memorable for me due to the fact that i could personally send sms for sreeram as i was in india 😳 and of course another reason is sreeram's win......
i would like to point out some highlights & disappointments according to my own opinion, hoping to reach out to you all 😳...

Highlights

-Judges' panel, quite a "musical" combo with two MDs and one established singer
-Contestants, more of singing talents, less performers
-Less drama, compared to other shows/previous seasons, though some amount were there in the show, still acceptable
-Musical mentors, should've been more, but a good attempt anyway 👍🏼
-Veto power, very very good attempt 👍🏼
-Critical judgements, especially in the begining rounds
-Early exits of Manisha & Yasraj, sorry if anyone is hurt with this comment but their eliminations were apt to say the least
-High quality and tough song selections for the contestants
-SREERAM & MEGHNA.......probably the greatest of all selections in indian idol so far
-Sreeram's win....my mom was actually raising her BP for him to win 😆, Congrats for the win bro, bravo 👏

Disappointments
-Judgments in later rounds......unexpectedly toned down & biased 👎🏼
-Sympathy & SOB stories....BAD, BAD, BAD 👎🏼
-A rather dull finale....no reaction of contestants, inappropriate performance of Sunidhi, dull & hillarious dancings of Rakesh & Bhoomi, especially rakesh's-he should've chosen other poised yet peppy number like "mahi ve" from kal ho na ho. As for bhoomi, she's still "besuri", sorry to say
-Vishwas, Arpita, Meghna & Naushad's early exits
-Bhoomi in Top 3---BIG BIG disappointment, many were ahead of her in talents, but fell behind in luck
-Except for Meghna & Arpita, other girls were very weak in singing, so NO GIRL POWER this time 😭
-RAKESH--I really liked the guy even more than Sreeram in the begining rounds, but his over-dramatic nature in exposing his personal life & relations were very distateful to say the least 🤢, if he remained poised and geaceful like sreeram, he would've had a very very bright chance of becoming the winner. But I guess that the guy still has a lot to improve especially in attitudes, so good luck to him for that 👍🏼

Hhm well at first i didnt knew he was indian idol! I saw him for the first time in Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar. He gave some mindblowing performances like Pehla Nasha, Aaoge Jab, Maula Mere etc. I got kinda addicted to his voice, cuz i think he has an unique, warm and soothing playback voice, which suites every song. Have you heard his album songs? Like Dhoondhein, Junoon, Ek Shaqs, Lafzon Mein, Mohabbatein Lutaaunga? I think each and every song is amazing! But except for his singing i think people adore/respect him so much because of his humilty. He is such a down 2 earth guy with a killing smile. Which are btw the same qualities Sreeram also has, and makes me love him more 😳 So thats why for me, Abhijeet Sawant is a gem and one of the best reality show winner ever! 👏

Agreed with every word of yours Shirani. Abhijit has a great voice, but like you said people like him more for his down to earth humble nature.

What I loved abt Finale was the way they paired contestants to the Professionals while performing...

this season was definetly better than previous one even though indian idol 1 will always be my best
i loved all performance but finale was kinda dissapointing even II 1 finale was better than this and also hated that Abhijeet Sawant didn't perform even once this season, i watched II5 only for him but he didn't even sing, i was so happy in Asha Bhosle episode when she tells him to sing few lines, other than that it was good season, i was hoping they would call sonu nigam too but aneway
thank god sreeram won, he deserved it

now we just have to wait for the movie where he will sing ..
