Sanaya is a sect of parsis...and yes their names are similar to muslim names as they originally are persians..and the persian language has quite a few similarities with arabic/ urdu..as it was one of the root languages..and yes most parsis migrated from Iran

For a complete info..plz refer to

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irani_(India)

Iranis in general are zoroastrians like Parsis and like I said they have a lot of common words with the urdu speaking population coz of persian... Sanayas name is in the list of popular Iranis..

Hey guys Sanaya is a muslim. Rati said assalamu alaikum to Sanaya and said thats how she greets her. It was in SBS december 2008.

All Iranians are muslims only as I what i understand. At least the majority is.

Her way of speaking doesn't really resemble us too. But then I don't know i just saw that in sbs.

Yeah Sonali assalamu alaikum Rati clearly greeted her like this so she is a muslim as this gesture belongs to Islam.

It is not in parsi as I am half parsi myself!

Sanaya is Parsi. So is Boman Irani, who is a family friend/relative of hers - she mentioned it in some interview. I have some parsi friends who are Iranis ... its a Parsi name.

Oh okay DIya but we don't address each other with that greeting as Rati did to Sanaya.

On a side thing religion hardly matters.
