Yaa.. Suraj died the day of the wedding.. they were married.. and there was some issues at the factory (Shaan's fathers factory) and Suraj was the one that could fix it.. so Suraj went there and there was a miscommunication and Shaan was supposed to watch the electric box when Suraj was fixing it (on the 5-6 story bld) Shaan thinks Suraj gives him a go to turn on the power.. and Shaan does so when Suraj is still working.. and Suraj get a shock and he falls from the floors and dies.

Becuase Khanak is close to Suraj's parents and she feels that she needs to do for them what Suraj wanted to. These two mangal hetal are not close only gopi and her parents and his bua are close to Khanak.

like mangal said "khanak ke khane may wo swaad nahi raha"
