Ok so before u read the rest of my comment, I just want to start by saying that I am a huge BV fan, I really enjoy this forum and I love and respect all of you people on here...you are all great and often, your funny and creative comments on here make me laugh and just make my day! I do not post on here often....but today I just felt the need to...so please hear me out with and open mind and don't get angry with me.
I read several posts about the new anandi and I would like to make a note of something based solely on comments that I read about her physical appearance. I think it may be too early to judge the acting skills...I would like to give her little more time...so this post is only going to address comments on physical appearance.
I saw the words 'dark and ugly' used to describe the new anandi in a couple of posts...just becos someone does not have light/fair skin, it doesn't mean that they are not pretty! Freida Pinto suffered the same reaction from Indians a while ago with people saying she looks so common and ugly..if she had light skin and grey/blue eyes like aishwarya rai, everyone in India would go gaga about her beauty! Even in matrimonial ads, there's always the demand for 'fair' brides in this day and age...and Fair and Lovely is the number one selling beauty product in our country.
So having stated the above, I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinion about beauty and I respect that and am not trying to change anyone's view...all I am asking is...please think about how your comments influence someone's self esteem....not me, I am a dark skinned Indian beauty who takes great pride in the color of my skin and richness of the tradition and culture associated with it......but there may be others not so confident.......especially younger Indian women.........who may read or hear such comments and for the rest of their life think that they are ugly and need stupid creams like 'fair and lovely' to make them 'beautiful' in the eyes of their fellow Indians...
