@Amara sir, thanks for the explanation of the word sandalan. I am hoping you will also explain the word kaepmaari soon. I always thought sandalan was the guy in the cremation grounds, so maybe the members of the caste worked the cremation grounds? Or maybe the word was vettiyaan? I have definitely learned many new words after coming to this forum, and esp after your entry here, because until then, I didn't use too many Tamil words in my posts (I still don't!).

007, thanks for the explanation . Being cruel to a fellow human
is unpardonable. Manu is probably the no.1 MCP -
Classifying people according to their varnams/ castes
is the most cruel thing. And of course our politicians fan
the fire - just so their vote banks would stay full for ever !!!
never knew that Sandaalan was a caste !!
