Hi guys..

I was going through the promos of the Holi episodes of Saregama and Cyrus the VJ of MTV was hosting them.. Has he been replaced by Shaan, any idea?

I hate the idea of seeing anyone else apart from Shaan as the host 😭

I hope he is not replacing Shaan!! 😭 😭 I love watching Shaan host SRGMP (although I like Cyrus too, but can't imagine him in place of Shaan)

Maybe Shaan was just not available for this paticular episode, so they had a guest host in his place.

Lets hope so 😊

I hope not. Cyrus is ok as an VJ (half of his humour is really corny) but I feel someone with sound musical knowledge should host SRGMP. Hope Shaan doesn't leave.

To be honest, Shaan's musical talent did not matter (I mean get utilized) at all on the Challenge 2005 series.. he rarely sang. When Sonu used to host the show, the format was such that he used to sing the opening song, and the judges used to rely heavily on him for the chords round. He could sing the right taal or chord for the contestants if they erred. That kind of involvement from the host is not required in the new format of sa re ga ma pa.

Although I too like Shaan a lot, but if he is indeed leaving and the format of the show is going to remain more or less like challenge 2005, they should bring in someone who is sharp, witty, observant, intelligent. Sophie was not bad at all as the show host. Aman and Mini too do a decent job of hosting a musical programme, with no musical background.

You have raised some good points. My thinking was that sometimes the host comments on how the contestants have sung - so that appears genuine and more convincing if you know someone with musical knowledge is saying that.

Like in II2 Mini and Aman would say the contestant has sung really well when you know the judges have heavily criticized that person. For example, on Mon or Tues episode Mini and Sonu were fighting over Antara.
