Sorry for the short delay. Maan is giving Geet problems, and me too also. What does this mean? You'll know soon.

Nothing Can Keep Us Apart

Part 17 - Changes of all kinds.

When Geet opened her eyes, the first thought she had was that she better hurry and get ready, or Maan might try to sneak off and leave her at home. Geet was excited that she would be going back to work at Khurana Constructions today. Looking around, Geet wondered where Maan was. He wasn't in the bathroom and she knew he hadn't left yet, because his phone was still laying on the bedside table. She became very curious as to where he might be and what he might be doing, so she left the bedroom to find him.

Geet wandered around the rooms she was familiar with, but there was no sign of Maan in any of them. She continued walking towards the back of the mansion down a hallway that was unfamiliar. When she turned the corner, she could see an open door and hear faint sounds as she moved closer. When Geet came to the door and looked inside, she didn't know what she expected, but it certainly wasn't what she saw.

Maan was alone in the room, his back to her, dressed only in a pair of pants, doing some sort of martial arts. He had apparently been at it for some time, as his hair and upper body were drenched with sweat. Geet was so stunned at the sight of Maan, that she just stood in the doorway, unable to speak or move. Her eyes widened, and her breath hitched, as she watch the sweat dripped down his body while he punched and kicked. She knew that Maan was very strong from her own encounters with him, as well as his being able to save her in Hoshiarpur, but not until this moment had she truly realized how fit and attractive he was.

Geet watching Maan by neahakhan

How long she was there, gazing at his bare back, taking in the strong movement of his bare arms, she didn't know. Only when she noticed the kicking of the baby, did Geet fully regain her senses. Making a quick retreat back to their bedroom, Geet chastised herself for her wayward thoughts. Trying to convince herself to forget about having any kind of romantic relationship with Maan, Geet reminded herself that she had only married him as a friend, and companion. It was silly to consider anything else.

"He probably doesn't think anything like that about me. After all, he said I wasn't that good looking, and had no trouble sleeping in the same bed. We're both just good friends, hai na?"

Geet decided to put the incident out of her mind, and start preparing for the day. She thought that it would be a nice, safe gesture if she behaved a bit wifely, and got his clothes ready for him. Walking over to the cupboard she looked through his shirts and after a minute pulled one out. She smiled, thinking to herself that it would be easy to choose his vest and pants, as he always wore black. She had just begun starting to look for a tie to match the shirt in her hand, when she began to feel a bit queasy. With Maan's shirt still in one had, her mouth covered by her other hand, she rushed to the bathroom, just in time to be sick.

Geet was still in the bathroom when Maan came back to get ready for the day. He could hear her throwing up and rushed into the bathroom, heedless of whether she wanted privacy or not. He couldn't bare to see her pale, retching form, and called loudly for Savitri to come as quickly as possible. When Savitri got to their room, she saw Maan tending to Geet, brushing back her hair with his hand and wiping her face with a damp towel. When he was finished he picked her up, and as he carried her back to bed, said that he knew that she should never have thought about going back to work. No way would he allow her to now.

"But I'm well now. It was just a little upset stomach, nothing to worry about."

"Accha! So that's why the color is still gone from your face, and you look like a fly could push you over. Is this why there's a problem with your weight gain? Have you been sick a lot?"

"No, I've hardly been sick at all, and usually not in the mornings."

"Well, there is no way I'm letting you come back to the office!"

Savitri was afraid that Maan might start another argument with Geet, and she didn't want that to happen when Geet was feeling a little shaky. She knew that her grandson was only worried about Geet's health, but it was time to intervene.

"Maan, I don't think there's any need to go that far. Perhaps Geet can go later in the morning, after she's had some time to rest and recuperate." Geet nodded her consent, but Maan wasn't having it.

"Nai, Dadima. She shouldn't be getting ill like this now. I don't think it's a good idea for her to start working again."

"That's not necessarily so. It is sometimes common for pregnant women to be sick later in pregnancy as well as earlier. I'm sure Geet will do fine after resting a bit more." Maan wanted to protest, but Savitri just gave him a stern look and suggested that he get ready himself.

Maan shook his head as he walked away, muttering to himself, "yeh auratein". Savitri just smiled at her grandson, and then advised Geet to take some more rest, before getting ready for the day. Soon after Savitri left, Maan came out of the bathroom holding his shirt that Geet had dropped. When he questioned her about what she was doing with his clothes, Geet told him how she had been getting them ready for him when she became sick. Maan first looked at her with shock, and then shook his head in exasperation.

"Geet this isn't some Desi Tv soap, where you get up at the crack of dawn, cook all the food, clean all the rooms, get me ready for work, and then eat your own breakfast. I'm perfectly capable of choosing my own clothes, and dressing myself. I've been doing it since I was five. You just worry about yourself."

Pouting, Geet responded, "I just wanted to be helpfull."

"I realize that. I appreciate the thought but it's not necessary." Maan sat down on the bed next to Geet, and placed his hand on her leg. "What I want the most is that you take care of yourself. This is all that I need." Geet still looked upset, so Maan thought for a second, then said, "I'll make a compromise with you. I'll choose my own clothes to wear, and you can be responsible for putting away my clothes as well as your own. You can also sew on any missing buttons I have, theek hai?" Geet smiled in response, and Maan went to get ready for the coming day's work.

When Maan walked into his office he felt a renewed sense of enthusiasm. He had delegated most of the day to day responsibilities to Sasha for too long. He was excited an ready to begin giving his whole effort to the business again. However, there were a few things he needed to do first, to prepare for Geet's return.

Sasha was watching Maan through the his office window, while Tasha stood next to her with a confused look.

"Tasha, tum nahi samjogi. MK's not MK."

"MK's not MK? Then who is MK?"

"Shut up, Tasha!"

"Sorry, Ma'am. Silly me!"

"Just look Tasha. Look at MK talking on the phone. He's smiling. MK never smiles! I'm telling you, that stupid behenji has done some sort of jaadu on him."

"What will you do, Ma'am?"

"I don't know, but I have to do something."

When Maan finished his phone conversation, he called Adi and Pinky into his office. He explained that Geet would be coming back to the office, and that he was counting on the both of them to help monitor her health and take care of her.

"I want you to come to me with any problem, no matter how small." Pinky enquired when Geet was coming in and was told a few hours. When Geet came in later in the morning, she walked right past Maan's office and into hers. When Maan saw this, he rushed over to Geet to ask what she was doing. When she replied that she was getting ready to go to work, Maan just smiled, grabbed her hand, and led her back to his office. Geet had no idea what he was doing, so Maan began to explain to her.

"Geet, this is now your office."

"That doesn't make sense. I have a perfectly good office next door, and if this is my office, where will you work?"

"I'll be here also. This is our office, both of us together."

"But, how will I answer phone calls, and take messages without disturbing you?"

Realizing the mistake Geet was making, Maan quickly explained that she wasn't his secretary anymore. "Geet, you are a member of the Khurana family and a partner of the company now. You can't work here as a secretary anymore."

"Then what work will I be doing?" When Maan didn't answer immediately, Geet started getting angry. "So this is your new idea to keep me from working. Say that because I'm a partner and your wife, I can't be your secretary. What am I supposed to do then, sit around and watch you work?"

"No, no that's not what you'll be doing. You and I will decide what responsibilities you will have together, after a lot of discussion. Right now I have two things I want you to work on today. First, I have our interior designer coming to meet you. As we're going to share the office, it will have to be redone to accommodate two desks. I want you to work with the designer, and once she gives you some options, we'll discuss them over lunch. Then I want you to meet with Adi and Pinky and start searching for a new secretary."

Precap:

"DD, uh .... Sir, you said you wanted us to tell you any problem."
