Things are getting finalized for the much awaited remake of the award winning movie, 'Agneepath'. Hrithik Roshan will play the lead role in the movie and he will be seen as an international gangster.
Karan Johar has taken an effort to remake 'Agneepath' and is deciding upon the outer frame of the movie. Karan Malhotra is going to direct the movie and Hrithik will play the lead role. Amitabh Bachchan has also won a national award for his performance as 'Dina Nath Chauhan' in the movie.
Apparently, there were rumors that Anhishek Bachchan will take over his dad's role in the movie and Jaya Bachchan will play the role of his mother.
However a source adds, "Abhishek was not even offered the role in the remake. Karan's 'Agneepath' remake will be written and directed by debutant Karan Malhotra and Hrithik character will be influenced by Al Pacino in 'Scarface' the inspiration behind 'Agneepath'.
The reason for not choosing Abhishek can be his recent failure 'Raavan' and over powering Hrithik's international looks very much perfect for the movie.
The only difference between the traditional and modern version is that Amitabh Bachchan played as an Indian gang lord, while Hrithik will play as an international gangster.
There's talk that Karan has already approached Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor for the principal roles, but he denies it. "We were waiting for the script to get completed. The next step would be to approach the actors. However, we haven't approached anyone yet," Karan sets the record straight.
Karan, who has been wanting to make a contemporary remake of the film as a tribute to his father, is presently giving shape to the new version. The buzz is Hrithik Roshan
will play Dinanath in the remake. Though he has yet to hear the script, it seems he has agreed to do the film. And the female lead is likely to be played by Priyanka Chopra, the actress who was part of Johar's superhit, Dostana! It may be recalled that south actress Madhavi played Amitabh Bachchan's love interest in the original.While the original was directed by the late Mukul S. Anand, the remake will be directed by Karan Malhotra, an erstwhile assistant director who has been part of films like Lakshya, Main Hoon Na, Jodhaa Akbar and My Name Is Khan. Incidentally, the title of the film was taken from a poem penned by Bachchan's father the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan had won the National Award for best actor for his performance in Agneepath.
