Awesome awesome updates laxmi. I loved their reunion. It was well thought out and so in character and thank you so much for not torturing them more.

So Vicky is a cousin and Kamya is Dev's step sister. Hmmm... Intresting. Vicky can be a cousin brother but Kamya being Dev's step sister, I don't know about that.
This was not an actual prediction, I really don't have any idea how they will explain Vicky's or Kamya's relationships with Maan in the show. It was more of an "I don't want to deal with you Kamya, so don't be related and go away." Makes shooing motions to Kamya.

Maan proposing marriage was so like him. The way he just ordered her. I don't want Geet to agree for marriage immediately. She should take some more time before taking a decision. After all she was once burned by marriage. No Comment May be you can include a doctors visit and connect them a bit more with each other for Geet's benefit. Just a suggestion.

I would also like it if Maan would also push Geet to finish her education. I hope cv's will let Geet complete her BA in the show. After all education is the first step towards independence.
I hadn't really thought about including her education, since it didn't seem from the show that she was thinking in that direction, however I might be able to work it in. No promises, but we'll see.

Whatever way you choose I am sure your story will rock. Keep up the good work Laxmi 👏 👏 👏 Eagerly waiting for the maha maha episode.
Thanks

hey laxmi.... awesome👏
Maans past revealed.....so sad too....doesn't look as if he had much interaction with his parents as a child.....Only Dadi seems a constant source of love and affection throughout his life, she understands him too well, also knows what's missing in his life more than him.
Loved that Geet's finally ready to accept that maybe Maan was the One meant for her all along..👍🏼

Nothing Can Keep Us Apart

Part 13 - The marriage.

Preparations

Geet was so intense in her prayer, she did not know that Savitri left Maan and her alone. She continued praying until she noticed that she still held the picture Savitri had handed to her earlier. Looking at the young, unsmiling face of Maan, she again thought of all that Savitri had explained about Maan's life. She had never thought about what experiences had been behind his angry facade, she just thought that he hated her.

All those times he had yelled and criticized had hurt, but the result had always been that Geet determined to change and become stronger. All of her wishes to be independent had come about because of Maan. Geet remembered when Brij tried to kill her, and how it was Maan who saved her. She and her baby owed their life to Maan's protection. "What do you think, baby? Should we agree and become part of this family?" Geet could feel the baby's small movements, and rested her hand on her abdomen. Thinking about how Dev abandoned them, while Maan protected them, Geet came to her decision. Glancing over at Maan she saw that he was awake, and staring at her angrily.

Maan looked around quickly, and finding they were alone, said, "Geet, you are going to marry me. I don't care what you and Dadi were discussing, you are marrying me."

"Maan..."

"Just shut up! I don't want to hear any of your brain dead logic."

"Suno..."

"You can scream and curse me all you like, but I won't give up. I won't stop until you agree to ...."

Maan had been walking towards Geet the entire time, and since he didn't seem like he would listen, as soon as he was close enough, she put her finger on his lips and said, "Shhhhhhhhh." Maan's eyes widened in shock, as if he could not believe what was happening. He continued staring at Geet's eyes, wondering if maybe he was dreaming. Geet was giving him a very small smile, instead of cursing at him?

Geet was amused at Maan's reaction. Removing her finger from his mouth she said, "Maan, meri baat suno. I have one condition before I agree to this marriage."

"What condition?"

Geet looked away hesitantly, unsure how to state her request. "I don't want elaborate ceremonies. I don't want it to be like before." They both knew she meant with Dev, but neither wanted to acknowledge him. "I just want something simple."

"If I agree to this, you will marry me?" asked Maan, not quite sure how what he thought was going to be a major battle, had somehow become so easy.

"Yes," Geet replied.

"Fine," responded Maan. He then called for Savitri, and told her that Geet had agreed to the marriage, providing they kept the ceremonies minimal and simple. Savitri was very excited, and said that they would plan a very nice wedding that Geet would find pleasing. She hugged first Geet, and then Maan, saying she had thought she would never live to see the day Maan would be married. Savitri started discussing details with Geet, while Maan just looked at them both with his arms folded, until the house phone rang. Surprised that anyone would be calling this late, Maan walked over to the phone and answered it.

"I would like to speak with Geet. Mera naam Nandini Verma hai."

When Geet heard who it was, she rushed to snatch the phone from Maan. Nandini asked if Geet was alright, and Geet answered yes but didn't know how Nandini knew where to phone her.

"Oh, I figured out who that handsome young man was pretty quickly, and I've had the Khurana number written down for weeks, just in case you changed your mind." Geet could hear the smile in Nandini's voice, and wondered how she always seemed to know what to do.

"Aunty, I have something to tell you. I found out the Maan was not involved in his brother's scheme, and he and I have agreed to be married."

"Congratulations, Beta. When?"

"Oh, Aunty we haven't talked about when yet. We only just agreed a few minutes ago."

"Tomorrow!"

"What?" questioned that two ladies present and the third on the phone, who had heard Maan's one word interjection into the conversation.

"Have you lost your mind?" asked Geet. "We can't get married tomorrow! We can't get married next week, let alone tomorrow."

"Kyun?" was all that Maan replied back.

"Beta, planning a wedding takes time. Also, you and Geet need time to get to know one another better, to become comfortable with each other." Savitri could see that her words were having no effect, and she knew it when Maan responded.

"We've known each other 4 months. We've been through more together than most couples have in their first year of marriage. Geet has agreed to marry me, what difference whether she marries me some date in the future, or tomorrow?"

Savitri and Maan continued arguing, with neither backing down. Geet was getting sleepy and a little agitated with the argument. When she couldn't take anymore she yelled, "Bus! We'll get married tomorrow. Just don't keep arguing about it. I'm tired, and I'd like to go home now."

"Oh, no, Geet Beta, it's too late. You'll stay here tonight. Is Mrs. Verma still on the phone?" As Savitri asked this, Geet realized that she was still holding the phone. Savitri took the phone from her hand and said, "Mrs. Verma, this is Savitri Khurana, Maan's grandmother. Yes, Geet will stay with us tonight."

Geet tried to protest but Savitri was having none of it. "Geet, Mrs. Verma and I will work on the wedding plans. You go sleep. Maan, show her to a guest room, and then come right back here." Savitri gave Maan a stern look that said, "don't try anything, mister." Geet didn't notice, but Maan blushed a little to think that his dadi thought he needed watching, that he couldn't be trusted alone with Geet.

****************

Geet woke up to the bubbly voice of Pinky saying, "Utho, Geet utho." She sat up in bed, not sure where she was for a second. Then she looked around the room and remembered the previous day.

"Geet, you're getting married to DD. You are sooooooooo lucky! Do you know how many girls at the office are going to die when they find out?"

"Pinky!" exclaimed Geet in exasperation, as she rolled her eyes. "What time is it?"

"11 in the morning. You slept a long time."

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at work?" asked Geet as she started getting out of bed.

"DD gave me the day off. I'm here to take you home. Ma'am and Nandini Aunty have been busy all day with the wedding preparations. I don't know what DD is doing, but I suppose it's something important. Geet, Nandini Aunty bahut accha hai. I like her a lot." Pinky continued to talk none stop as Geet got ready to go. Just before they left, Geet noticed the photo of Maan on the bed and picked it up. She was careful not to let Pinky see it, as she didn't want to explain why she had it.

When they reached Pinky's house and went inside Geet was upset by all she saw going on. There were several people moving furniture around and decorating everything. She complained to Pinky that she wanted things to be simple. Pinky assured her that everything was going to be simple.

"We're not doing any of the pre-wedding rituals, there's not going to be any reception, and the house is going to be decorated just a little. Don't worry about it, everything is being taken care of, except you. We need to start doing that right now." Pinky grabbed Geet's hand and pulled her towards her old room.

When they got there Geet saw Nandini, but no Savitri. Upon enquiring, Geet learned that Savitri had gone back to the Khurana mansion, but had left a note and some things for Geet.

Beta,

I can't tell you how happy I am that you are marrying my grandson. You are everything that I could wish for in a Bahu. I hope that you will wear my wedding saree and feel my love for you as you do. I thought that you might be uncomfortable if we purchased you some wedding jewelry, so I sent some family pieces instead. Please choose to wear whatever you like. I'm sure that Mrs. Verma will take good care of you, and I'll see you soon.

All my love,
Dadi

"Wow, Geet! Look at how beautiful this jewelry is. You have all the luck. We'll have to do some beautiful mehendi designs to match this stuff." Geet quickly interrupted Pinky, saying that she didn't want any mehendi. Pinky was shocked and tried to persuade her, but Nandini intervened and said that if Geet didn't want mehendi then they wouldn't do it.

"Theek hai," said an annoyed Pinky. "At least we can still do some cool make up and hair. That's my department." Pinky walked out of the room muttering to herself about what styles Geet might look good in.

Geet was glad that Pinky left the room. She wanted to talk to Nandini about something, but was nervous. She didn't know how to start the conversation, but then decided that she better do it fast before Pinky came back.

"Aunty, I need to ask you to do something important for me."

"What do you need, Geet?"

"Aunty, can you please tell Dadi not to... not to... decorate Maan's bed?" Geet felt so embarrassed, but hurriedly explained her request. "Dekho, Aunty, Maan and I don't have that kind of relationship and I would feel so uncomfortable. I just.... I don't know..."

"Geet, dear, there's no need to be embarrassed about anything. I'll speak to her right away." "Thank you so much, Aunty."

As Nandini left Pinky came back with a bag full of beauty products that she dumped on the bed. She started talking about how they should try and think what DD would like best. Geet was a bit tired of hearing Pinky refer to Maan as DD all the time.

"Pinky, you do realize that once Maan and I are married, you'll have to stop calling him DD. You should start calling him jeeju instead, but only when your not at the office." Pinky looked shocked at the idea of referring to her boss as brother-in-law. She didn't think he'd like it. However, Geet continued, "I don't want to hear about tumhare DD. I'd much rather hear about tumhare Adi!"

Pinky blushed bright red and said, "What is there to hear? I've done everything I can think of to get him to ask me out except beg him, and I'm so desperate that I might just do that! I think maybe he had a bad experience with a girl's family, so he doesn't want to meet my dad. If I could just get them together, I'm sure they'd like each other. But how?"

Geet thought about the problem and then suggested that she invite Adi to the wedding. That way he would end up meeting Uncleji, but not in a date type setting. She also suggested that they tell Adi to come with the groom's side, so that he wouldn't be suspicious. Pinky thought the idea was brilliant, but wanted Geet to ask him, otherwise she thought he'd probably say no.

Journey to the mandap

Maan was getting impatient. If his dadi didn't hurry up he would leave without her. As the time for the wedding came closer, Maan got more and more worried that Geet might change her mind. He started pacing the floor in his agitation. He was just about to start yelling for Savitri to hurry up, when he walked right into Adi.

"What are you doing here?" barked Maan.

"Woh, G...G..ee..t..t.. told m..me about the w..w..w..edding a..a..a..nd s..s..aid I should come w..w..ith you."

"Geet told you to come?" asked Maan more calmly.

"H..h..h..aan."

"Theek hai. Dadima! Are you ready yet?"

"Maan, it is bad manners to yell at your elders. Oh, Adi, are you coming to the wedding? How nice. Come one, everyone, don't stand here waiting. Chalo." Maan gritted his teeth in frustration, but followed Savitri to the car, with Adi following behind.

Maan was so tense and distracted that he hardly knew where he was. He finally came to himself when Nandini Verma stood in front of him, doing arti before he could enter the house. When the arti was finished everyone moved to the small mandap set up in the main room and waited for Geet.

The wait was worth it. When Geet started coming down the stairs, Maan was lost in her such that everything else faded away. Pinky had worked her magic, turning Geet's hair into a beautiful waterfall of curls, complemented by the subtle, expertly applied make up. Geet had chosen the simplest of the jewels, but they suited her innocence, and the beautifully embroidered red saree. She was a vision, and Maan thought he had never seen anyone more beautiful in his life.

Maan and Geet placed garlands around each other, and then sat down at the madap as the pandit began his mantras. Soon their sashes were tied and it was time for the saath pheres. Throughout the ceremony, Geet had been trying to not think about her "marriage" with Dev, but when it came time for the pheres she couldn't help but remember taking them with Dev. A sadness came over her to think about how her life had been affected by the actions of one person.

Maan seemed to understand her pain as she sat there with tears brimming in her eyes, not moving. He patiently held out his hand and waited for her to take it. When Geet saw his hand outstretched, she glanced up at him, astonished at the warmth and understanding in his eyes. Once again, Geet understood that Maan was very different from Dev, some one that she could trust and count on in times of difficulty. Feeling reassured, she placed her hand in his. They walked together, one .. two .. three .. four .. five .. six .. seven times around the sacred fire. Maan tied the mangalsutra around Geet's neck, put the sindoor on her maang, and they were married.

A new life

After taken the elders' Aashirvaad, they began Geet's bidaai. After stopping at Lord Ram and Sita's temple, they soon reached the Khurana mansion. Savitri was thrilled to again be welcoming a bride into her home, especially the dulhan of her beloved grandson. Geet stepped in the vermilion and then kicked over the rice pot as she entered her new home.

Geet felt very shy and strange as she thought about how now she was truly married, and this time to someone she once thought despised her. All of the wedding party were expression their happiness and congratulations to Maan and Geet. Maan and Geet were sneaking glances at each other, while trying to pretend that they weren't. It was Geet's beauty that was drawing Maan, while Geet was feeling shy and nervous, wishing she could speak to him alone. When she finally had the chance to mention her wish to him, Maan told her that she should settle in, and they would speak later, as he had some very important work that demanded his immediate attention.

When Geet was escorted to Maan's room, she was relieved to see that the room was not decorated. Nandini and Savitri assisted her in finding a place for all of her belongings. Geet had long back sent Pinky off, telling her to make the most of her opportunity to further her father's and Adi's acquaintance.

After Geet was left alone, she sat at the dressing table and began removing her jewelry. She didn't get very far before she got up and began pacing around the room. She tried very hard not to stare at the bed, but it was so large, that it was impossible not to see it. She had wanted to talk to Maan about what kind of arrangements that would make for living together in the same room, but she didn't think she could wait in that room itself. Walking back downstairs she went to one of the couches and sat, determined to wait until Maan's business was finished.

****************

Maan couldn't stop from yawning as he bid goodnight to his lawyer. He was so tired he could barely stay awake, and as he started walking towards the stairs, he noticed that someone else had the same problem. Geet had long ago succumbed to her tiredness, and fallen asleep curled up on the couch. As Maan moved closer to Geet, he saw that a few small curls were covering her face. He remembered the night Geet fell asleep in her office, and how he had almost moved the hair off her face. He had hesitated then, and he hesitated now. His fingers itched to reach out and gentle remove the hair from her fair skin. Noticing the sindoor that he had recently placed on her himself, he remembered that they were married, and there was no shame in his touching her. Carefully, he smoothed away one curl at a time, and then gently picked her up and carried her to their room.

Maan softly laid Geet on the bed and removed her shoes. Pulling the covers up over her, he noticed that she was still wearing her earrings. As beautiful as they looked on her, he didn't see how she would be able to sleep in them. He tenderly removed her earrings one at a time, and placed them on the bedside table. Gazing down at her face, looking so innocent in sleep, he was mesmerized. He couldn't believe that she was now his. He almost couldn't take the overwhelming feelings of protection and tenderness inside his heart. Whispering softly he said, "Geet, you will never be alone again. I will be with you all through your life. I will protect you from sadness and the evils of life. You and the baby are mine now. Nothing shall ever harm you again. This is my promise."

Maan then decided that he better go to sleep, before he fell over. He didn't have any couches in his room, just chairs. He briefly thought about sleeping on the floor, but that did not seem appealing at all. He was so tired he finally decided to just sleep on the other side of the bed, after all, it was a big bed, so there shouldn't be any problem. It's not like he has no control.

Precap:

Maan was surprised to see the taveez tangled in Geet's mangalsutra.

Disclaimer: I am not advocating fast, or forceful marriages by having Maaneet get married the next day. Actually, I think it is much better if people don't rush into marriage. However, most of the scenes that I want to put in the story work better with them getting married immediately, so there you go.
