You make a good point. And finally, there's this factor to consider: a LOT of the current young crop of actors were thrust into showbiz not by any inherent drive or talent, but by yesteryear filmstar parents and other family connections. You could say Aamir and Salman had family connections, too, yet they still generated their own following and had charisma. But now the crop of young actors is so diluted with nepotism that it will take some time for true talent to emerge out of the dredge of mediocrity.
That's not entirely true. Aamir was launched by his family. But that wasn't the case w/ Salman. His dad wasnt a producer or director. He was a part of the writer duo and at that time he wasnt even writing films .
In fact Salman's dad always wanted Arbaaz not Salman to get into films. Sallu wasn't offered films at all. He wanted to be a director so he went to a lot of producers with stories but they all rejected him. Then he tried as an actor but there too he was rejected . In fact the only role he got was as a side hero in Biwi Ho to Aisi, his 1st film. That's not the kinda launch anyone would want.
And then he went and auditioned for his role in MPK like any other normal guy and was finalised after a lot of auditions in acting/dancing etc. But even after MPK he didnt get films for over an year .
