Hello DMGers

Here I go again with another topic! Well this is something I have observed in the DMG Forum more so than others. This is just a topic, about I-F in general, but it really applies here.
Do not feel I am aiming it at one person, but the I-F community in general, and please comment if you have logical replies. No 'omg, well just don't come on this forum then.' People like to come on forums, and possibly point out improvements, so its invalid to say that.
Besides the point here I GO....
Okay so when a CEO of a company sends his company in to bankruptcy, we judge based on his business skills and scrutinize his lack of them.
When a doctor helps a patient, we judge based on the fact that the patient has gotten well and his overall health and then applause the doctor.
When we take an architect, we judge based on his design.
When we praise a teacher, we praise her for her ability to teach kids and how well she makes them excel.
My point being, if its your occupation you will be judged according to its standards. AND HERE IT COMES...
So why can we not judge an actor on their acting? If that is their job, they are meant to act and entertain us, and if we don't think its good, should we not be allowed to voice it? Acting is on the world stage for a reason, we hand out oscars to actors for a reason (validating their acting skills), we make movie reviews judged on how well the actors were able to carry off the film. So if someone makes a comment (let me remind you I have seen this from SA, JW, KW AND KG fans) that an actor is 'over acting' that is their honest opinion, and its called bashing...but why? if their profession is acting, should we not be able to judge them on their work? prefer them for it? Here if we say one thing, it turns in to an all out spaz, but if we turn on the tv and say this about an actor, well we are judging them according to what they do! I just don't get it, I do not mean to sit here and say things about actors personal lives and bash them, but we should be able to judge their acting, if its on the world stage, it for us to see and voice upon it.
That is all, i didnt know where else to post this.

A very sensible post. Yes an actors job is acting. We on the receiving end of the job done should definitely judge how well it is done( or not). Criticising an actors ability based on what we see, and not beyond that is absolutely justified, my POV.

yes, actors job is to act and we as viewers have full right to criticize them.. but the problem comes when the thin line of criticizing and bashing is crossed and sadly most ppl dont know where the line is..

Exactly saying that someone overacts isn't bashing. It criticism which only helps the actor grow!!!!
TM.. I'm sure people will now say that you are'jealous','frustrated' even if you are not a fan of any particular actor, jodi or the show itself

Thanks guys, exactly, the line is not so thin i think unless we start making personal remarks about an actor, if we just say 'no her acting was poor' well we are judging her on what she is meant to be doing.
