Lol! I totally understand - those said "war zone" forums have that toll on people... But fikar not! Ab you're here in LTL and we welcome everyone! And (at least true for me) try not to be hypocrites - so I hope we're not a part of your "Erase Prejudiced Hypocrites" list! ๐
Oh boy am I relieved to hear that. Wait! I already knew that from before, ๐๐ Of course you lot are not part of my "Erase Prejudiced Hypocrites" list ๐ LTL forum is so upbeat and fun! I love it! ๐
About people learning, honestly? I don't think they'll learn EVER. We will always have that one population (big or small depends on the level of education in the world) that will hold on to such hypocrisy and such discrimination. You know the movie SpiderMan? Every time I come to this topic I am reminded of this one quote from that movie: With great power comes great responsibility. People who are supposedly "better" than the others have a greater responsibility to be BETTER than them! Ulta they think that their presumed superiority gives them a right to act like douches and get away with it. And I don't know if and when that's ever going to change. People will always compare themselves to those supposedly "less fortunate" and feel worthy by making them feel worthless in comparison. They WILL do it - is mein toh koi doubt nahi. *sigh*
So true. Power just goes to people's head including mine ๐ which is the reason why I never take up things which require me to be the person with power! Speaking from experience, bad experience ๐ I really dislike the quality of comparing yourself or others to each other, because it is so daft. Every single human being is unique so how can you compare things like that when you have so many differences! ๐ Baffles me why people still do that! *rollseyes*
But shows like LTL might not make a big difference in current times but hey! It got us talking about it didn't it? And maybe if enough people talk about the stupidity of racism - just MAYBE we could get something started here? *thinks optimistically* Realistically speaking, I don't think it will ever change. But optimism takes the best of me and I would like to hope that one day enough people will care to see the "light" they might actually be able to bring about a change. But as far as shows and movies go, all they do is REMIND us of an "evil's" presence in our life. Now how we deal with it, is up to us..
Well I think optimism is a good start. Why? Because changes happen from ideas, I'm sure being optimistic changes the way you think, therefore you act differently, creating a difference, a change which may affect not only you but others around you. I'm one of those smiley people who likes being happy & *mostly* optimistic all the time and people ask me the age old question "how can you stay happy and optimistic?" ๐ I do have my bad days, but staying like that makes my life easier, also throwing in a bit of realism with optimism isn't a bad combination either! ๐ But then again I'm a very closed up person, which probably makes it easier for me! ๐
Realistically, well I think it depends on the individuals, I mean we are obviously brought up in a certain way which probably affects the beliefs we hold. The open minded people we are, is a factor of our enviroment and upbringing. Unless people are willing to be more open to new things, nothings gonna budge! The important element being "Time!" Humans eh? So hard to understand! ๐ As for dramas and movies, well thats true but exaggerated x2! Again dealing with such influences depends on our enviroment and the way we think!
