Vivek Oberoi defends Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan

COLOMBO: Actor Vivek Oberoi defended the entire Bachchan family at a press meet during the ongoing IIFA weekend in Colombo. Vivek was asked what he thought about actor Amitabh Bachchan — the brand ambassador of IIFA — not turning up for the event.

Vivek said, "You have to respect the fact that people have work for which they sometimes cannot turn up at events. It happens to each one of us. I know everyone wanted to see the Bachchan family in Colombo. They are being missed by the people of Sri Lanka as well as by everyone of us. Abhishek and Aishwarya have a film up for release and, trust me, there is a lot of work and stress during a release. So, give them a respite. I'm sure they would be missing being here too."

The actor's response, however, comes as a turnaround statement. He had previously said he expected Amitabh Bachchan to come and support the initiative for which he is the brand ambassador.

He continues to shock me, less than a year ago he called her plastic and fake and now he's defending her! I fail to understand him, but I wonder what brought around this change??!!😕

he see that salman khan didnt forgive him for his mistake so now he is trying to be cool with his ex the plastic that he called her a year ago lolol hahhahah

When he called her plastic and fake, then it was his views on her. After all he dated Ash for few years and we all know how it ended. I don't blame him, i only blame him for mistreating his real friends during salman controversy. I am glad he isn't going too much after Bachchan and Salman, the guy admits he made a mistake and he apologize in public, what more can he do? Hopefully good days will come into his life and he won't commit stupid mistakes again.

Vivek has made some major blunders in the past but I have felt quite sorry for him. I don't think he should to try to get too chummy with the Bachchan parivaar. It's good to move on but unwise to revist old relationships. Having said that, there isn't anything wrong with his statement. But because of the Ash factor, journos want to make it a point.
