In several posts, there is reference to some contest called FAME 2005, in which Debojit defeated Vinit.

What is FAME 2005? Is there a downloadable video?

Fame 2005 series was the contest just before the Challenge 2005. Vinit lost to Debu in that contest and Pt. Jasraj ji was the judge.

And in that round where deboo had to compete against vinit, judges were Pandit Jasraj, Biddu, Chitra. And They chose Deboo over vinit. Deboo was the winner in fame 2005 over vinit too...........

Was that when Vinit faltered on the first note of the song, stopped and restarted.

I seem to recall something like that. Didn't realize Debojit was his opponent even back then.

Yes! I think I remember that episode. Vinit was about to sing the high note, but his voice cracked so he tried the same note again, but his voice cracked again, and at that point he stopped singing and had his elbow covering his face, he started to cry.....😕

Yes exactly! That time he was alone by himself and had to perform by himself without Himesh's support so he faltered and didnot have himesh with him to hype and create politics to make him win. 😆

Yeah, and Pt. Jasraj and others were more than gracious to recognize him and place him 2nd.

Does anyone remeber date of that episode?

It was held in May or June 2005. Somewhere in the first week of either month. Just before Challenge started.

Deboo was marvellous in Fame 2005. He just sweeped away vinit in all the rounds especially in that regional round where Deboo rendered Bengali classical song. My god. Everybody were amazed and mesmerised by it. 👏 👏 👏 by Deboo's bengali redention. While poor vinit was crying like a baby after forgetting lyrics and knowing that his voice cracked. 😭 He was crying like a baby just as baby asks for milk 😆
