How do you feel when you get slapped?

...that is what Baba asked Kesar yesterday. I found the question both funny and ridiculous .

What answer was he expecting to get? That she just loved being slapped by her hubby because his fingers came into contact with her cheeks and aroused pleasant feelings in her? If I were in Kesar's position I would have turned around and asked him back if Pratigya were to slap him how would he feel.

He apparently thinks that women are made differently not only in physical terms but also in emotional terms. Cant blame him for it for he sees daily examples of his mother and bhabhi being whacked around by their respective husbands and not complaining. Yes, women are more tenacious and can bear with a lot but that does not mean that they are numb to pain. They feel the same pain when slapped just like their male counterparts but many take it too. Some don't and they shouldn't, especially when they are being slapped for no fault of theirs, as Pratigya was.

I guess, Krishna is feeling guilty for slapping her for he knows that he was at fault. He repeatedly keeps getting flashbacks of the slap and feel positively uncomfortable whenever he does. He is trying to justify it by seeking the views of his friends and his bhabhi but is too proud to accept their opinions. Maybe he hoped that they would say that he was not wrong in slapping her and that Pratigya should not have made a big deal of it. That, in turn, may have put his own guilty conscience at ease. However, neither his friend nor his bhabhi feel what he did was right. Nothing to assuage his male ego. I hope the guy dwells more on what people have said and takes the first steps to reform his wild behaviour.

Very WELL WRITTEN, Opti!👏⭐️👏⭐️👏⭐️👏⭐️👏⭐️ My thoughts exactly!!! Krishna is being and has always been too proud to accept his own fault... Sure, he said 'sarry' to Pratigya, BUT I think that was out of desperation to get her back and take her home & NOT BCOZ he really felt sorry or meant it coz just like u said, its too much for him to stake his male-ego to admit his bad!!! BUT he himself is feeling uncomfortable about slapping Pratigya so is looking for other 'reasons' to justify his actions - which I think is either being in denial or being completely selfish!!! Even I thought that Krishna was being in-sensitive with Kesar BUT then I realized that there is nothing new about it! He has done it b4 coz I doubt he realizes that he is hurting the other person's feelings - which again, makes him more of a selfish character!!!😕

I was taken aback by his question. There's no doubt he saw that Kesar cried and protested whenever Shakti manhandled her. Then why expect her to like all that in the first place? Can't he read simple human emotions? 🤔
What irritated me the most was when Kesar asked him why he hit Pratigya if he claims to love her, he chided her question like a hairball from under the bed. 🤢 He came to listen to her "opinion", but if he's not willing to listen, then how is he to be helped? In my opinion, Kesar should've told him off right there. The problem, however, is that she's such a sweetheart and tries to avoid "disappointing" anyone.😭 She's probably forgotten what she likes and hates because all the time, she's trying to please everyone in that wacko family. 👎🏼
Also, Junaabji had to top it off with fireworks by adding brusquely that Kesar was the most unfortunate of all in Allahbad because of the number of beatings she has gotten. Does that guy have a heart? And no, it's not about upbringing at all. It's about having compassion and sympathy. I was always told that if I can't help fix a problem to not make it worse.
Blah!!!

@limits:

I hate his "I'm her husband" justification. Chimps sometimes walk on two of their legs, but that doesn't make them homo sapiens. (I love monkeys!😳 PETA waale na aajaye😆) He expects so much from her, yet forgets to look at what she expects from him. 🤢🤢 Also, if he had built a stronger foundation for their relatioship after marriage and then slapped her (not saying slapping is okay), Pratigya would have had something hopeful to come back to. Instead what MW did was break her trust, thrust lies at her and abuse her. At this moment, she has nothing in their relationship. She has invested her time and efforts with his family, but not with him and right now, he's the one who screwed up. Therefore, essentially it is a ghaate ka sauda for Pratigya.

My first reaction on hearing this question was Incredulity tinged with pity .....then a cautious happiness ...Chalo , Ab tho he is realizing that there must be something wrong regarding the wife beating and is conducting a survey to find answers' [Thank God ! He did not ask Amma !! ]

So there does exist a conscience in our child-man .....Ummmmmmmmm...a teeny weeny beginning ,but neverthless a beginning towards his redemption ..Now he has began to question ,and although he still is not accepting the unpalatable truth ,time will come when he has to swallow this bitter pill too and acknowledge his mistake and do the proper thing .

Digression:

I loved the casual interaction between the Brother in law and sister in law yesterday ...😊

Thanks Mony. So you are here too! been watching this show only recently. Must say I thoroughly enjoy it because it is not all weepy and has a good mix of everything. These days I laugh out loud like I did for this one.

Yes, his sorry did not seem heartfelt. It sounded more flippant and his demeanour did not do much to dispel that notion. As to apologising in front of everyone, that would count for something if the person is generally shy of an audience but goes to such great lenghths for his beloved but our baba likes to wear his heart on his sleeve and is generally quite comfortable with people watching him while he throws his weight around (maybe he thinks public declarations of love as in the honeymoon or public apologies as in here is mroe effective and attention catching).
He is uncomfortable with what he has done. At least that is a start. He is not completely conscience less but alas he is too proud. Well hope he realises that there is no place for ego in marriage.
I dont know if I call him selfish. I think he is a self centred, attention seeking spoilt brat. He feels the world revolves around him and so it did till Prats came along and is making him see that it does n't.

Prats cannot always wage her battles.

Well, even I wonder how he can put up with all that is happening at the T household. When his mom was being whacked by his pa and Prats wanted him to stop him, all he said was that this was nothing new and if he interfered he too will get thrashed. So much for compassion as far as his own mom is concerned.
Blah!!!
