In reality these actresses aren't the only two putting up fake accents, almost everyone is. And I guess it all has to do with the fact that the Indian accent is perceived as funny and humorous and people tend to associate uneducated people with heavy accents. This isn't true at all, also most people find European, Latin, and Australian accents sexy and Indian accents as funny. I guess the reason why actors choose fake accents is to appeal to the western crowd, can't blame cuz it's their job, but there's nothing wrong with the Indian accent.

Also I don't know is other people do this too, but I have a regular American accent, but when I talk to my parents, I all of a sudden develop an Indian accent. Seriously, I speak with the same accent as my parents, but then when talking to anyone else I go back to my original manner!

When i talk in English, i talk in the "regular" english accent. But when i talk in my language, i sound like i KNOW the language and i develop the indian accent, so basically i sound indian when i talk. And when i talk in spanish, i somehow develop the accent when i talk 😆.

I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to make your accent sound more American like...they have to fit in. I dont even think that the accents are necessarily "fake."

So when i talk in punjabi, is my punjabi/indian accent fake? 😳

I have done research on the topic of people picking up the accents of the people speaking around them.

a little thing i saw online:
A lot of people pick up accents without any conscious effort, often whether they want to or not. It seems to depend greatly on individual personality, with some people rapidly changing to match the locals, and others never changing at all. My impression is that this characteristic is closely linked to the ability to achieve a high level of fluency in a new language.


I find it true because i have noticed my accent slightly changing based on where i am 😳
Like i went down to texas for summer once and when i came back, my friends said i talked differently 😆

the all changes when they go out of india they are soo fake

yeah same here, but here people are not used to indian accent and whenever they hear it they laugh :(
