Yeah the name is Hemachandra.... I wonder how the astute topic starter let such an obvious silly mistake slip through?

SRGMP of the old days was just a singing competition. It had no public voting. The judges were often Ustads and Pandits. They crowned Shreya the winner. (Sunidhi was discovered on another show).

Then SRGMP's set became bright and multicoloured. It included public voting and a 'gharana' system wherein judges/mentors/loudmouths went head-to-head. Himesh wore a cap. Things got ugly. He took off the cap, things got uglier.

Show producers forgot that it was a music show, and started adding saas-bahu style scripts, dialogues, sound effects as well as camera effects.

Now SRGMP is like a trifle - it's sweet but mixed up and just plain wrong.

I remember on a Shreya Ghosal concert, there was also the winner of 1996 SRGMP, some Kumar Mallya. Really sad to see him like that, I mean, he won the contest deservingly, and now he is doing shows.

Yeah that's what happens... It's very very very very difficult to make it and get even a few playback opportunities!
