Unique Jodi
When the daughter gets married, the mother cries profusely while the father, standing in a corner, weeps silently unable to get over the sorrow of his little girl leaving his shore to be with her new husband. Undoubtedly, the mother-daughter relation is something unique but the father-daughter relationship speaks volumes. To explore this unique bond, three famous women celebrities were called in with their fathers to participate in Star Plus' new game show Idea Presents Jodee Kamaal Ki...
We walk into the stage no.2 of Mehboob Studios where the shoot is to commence. A lot of hustle-bustle can be seen all around.
The last minute pangs seem to be withering away fast as the three father-daughter pairs: Pooja Bedi and Kabir Bedi, Mona Singh (Jassi) and Jasvir Singh and Yukta Mookhey and Inder Mookhey walk in. Hostess Rakshanda Khan is seen welcoming them in her own imitable style. Immediately on arrival, the three pairs walk up to their respective tables from where they will have to answer queries on a digital pad attached to a monitor of the hostess' table. They will be given points if their answers tally with each other or would have to be content with a blob. While the contestants get ready for the shoot, we are taken to the video room where we instantly get hooked on to the goings-on on the set. The shoot starts and in a matter of seconds, Dheeraj Kumar whose Creative Eye Ltd, has designed and produced the show, comes in to give us a summary of the concept of the show. Kumar says, "Most of the shows on air are imported ones which are later Indianised. Jodee Kamaal Ki is a totally India-based show that goes on to tap the unforgettable moments of life of celebrities from all walks of life including sports, politics and business." Kumar goes on to add," the first episode that will be aired on March 4 will have cricketers with their respective spouses. This show delivers a message in a subtle manner that in short is 'not to forget the past'." The first round is underway and Pooja and Kabir Bedi have just got 20 points from their identical answers among a round of applause from the audience.
It's time for the hostess to field a question to Mona and her father. "What did you aspire to be when you were a kid?," goes the query. After a pause, both Mona and her papaji start scribbling their respective answers. In a while Rakshanda beams "Dhobi" to which both Mona, her father and the others burst out laughing. When the sound dies down, Mona goes on to explain, "Those were the days we used to stay in Kolkata. Every day I used to see a dhobi come to our house riding a bike. I was so fascinated by the bike that I used to tell my parents that I wanted to be a dhobi when I grew up." Papaji nods his head in agreement. The daughter-father pair also get 20 points and there is all round applause. While Yukta and her father get ready to take on their part of the question Kumar cuts in. "There are some moments of life that stay on with a person and this show endeavours to cull out those special moments," he says. Rakshanda fires her question to Yukta and her father. "What did you like to play with when you were a kid?" The query brings out smiles on their faces as Yukta and her father jot down their answers on the pad. Rakshanda exclaims, "While you (Yookta) say I liked to play with a teddy bear, your father says you very much liked his beard and played with it," adding," since your answers don't match you get a big zero."
Just when the production people take a small break, the three couples along with the game hostess are escorted to the viewers room. Just before we get ready to forward our individual queries, paparazzi's have a field day shooting the stars from close. Pooja Bedi sighs, "My counterparts stay with their father whereas I meet my father once in a while, hence would not be able to answer certain set of questions. To another query, "You host several shows. How do you feel like being on the other side?," Pooja reveals, "For a change it feels nice and am enjoying this to the hilt."
The ravishing Rakshanda seems to be enjoying the question-answer session inside the viewing room when some one asks her, "How do you feel hosting a show that replaces Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati?" She regroups herself and says, "I am sorry to point that you are unnecessarily dragging me to answer a question that I am not fit to reply," adding, "Amitabh Bachchan cannot be compared." Asked about any new serials she has taken up, she retorts, "For over three years I have been acting day in and out in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin and Kyunki ... Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. I need to take a break and so I am concentrating on hosting shows for the moment." As for this show, I am enjoying hosting it and meeting six new contestant-celebrities daily. I am excited about the show which besides having 11 cameras is also being edited online. Doing this show has been a challenge for me and I am taking it gracefully." Finally Dheeraj Kumar sums up, "The show drives home the point that life isn't about achievements but is also about compassion and how one is aware about the nuances of close relationship. If after watching the show one starts loving his spouse, children and parents more than before, Creative Eye would have achieved its objective."
The show goes on air on March 4 and will be aired every Saturday at 9 pm.
