Whatever he did was deffo for her happiness.. A father has to assure his daughter's life even after his death.. And what would had happened, if after Shanky's death, Armaan leaves Riddhima again?

A husband is someone who takes his wife in every kind of journey, be it of happy ones, or sad ones.. And if a fiance thinks that he will only take her with him when everything is fine, and will leave her alone during tough days, that doesn't assure a father much..

Hence, he doesn't want Ridz to be with Armaan.. And also.. Armaan's love is beyond comparison.. But anything that is beyond limit, is harmful.. And a marriage has a balance combo of everything.. That's why, a father always goes for marriage :)

See first decide one thing.. In SR relationship, ONE of them was wrong.. If u say it's Sid's fault that he doesnt trust her, which means, Riddhima loves Sid and Sid is the khalnayak right? Then I think SR marriage should work.. As Ridz loves him..

And if u say Ridz doesn't love Sid, then that proves that what Sid thinks is right!! Hence, Sid aint wrong, and we see the way it's going!
