Ok, this is not related to CID, but we all watch TV, so we can occasionally talk about some other stuff I guess...

This is the oldest Mile Sure Mera Tumhara, you know, the anthem of the Republic Day, back during the old DD times. This year, they made a new one after so many years, and it sucked, it gave little importance to people who truly deserve it, like Baichung Bhutia, Bhupen Hazrika etc, and more to chocolate stars like AB Jr and his wife Ash.

Wow... I remember.... Those were the times.... The 80's and 90's.... We were lucky to have been there when such beautiful stuff were telecasted....

I was lucky to be a kid during those days at least...because it was the age of innocence for me.... it was the mid-90's wen sadly d indian audience and d indian tv began to change....

Thanx Visrom for opening this topic....

@ Those who grew up in d 80's-90's, what do u feel about the indian tv scenario of the early 90's and a decade-later indian television?

the original version of mile sur mera tumhara was so beautiful and then these people go ahead make crap like PHIR MILE SUR MERA TUMHARA.

WHERE ARE THE REAL PEOPLE WHO REPRESENT INDIA??
I got so angry when I saw Deepika padukone of all the people they could of chosen in the video 😔 I mean what has she done to represent india in any way??she wasn't even wearing a saree!!

Where are the sportsmen like sachin , bindra and our boxers?the aam janata? the farmers? the IT people who have made India a global market? the real people of army who sacrifice their life for our country??the wildlife of india?business icons like the ambanis, tatas,etc?

@devashri I agree.

When I saw the new one I was so disappointed. They just ruined the essence, the motive of Mile Sur. I still wonder with what the theme of the new video was, they turned it into an exercise of how many stars they got in one place

The 1988 video it started with a waterfall with Bhimsen Joshi's vocals in the background. Then they go from one state to another sing the same line in the language of that state. I think they covered 15 languages. Towards the end kids running and form the national flag. The essence of it was we are all one irrespective of our different backgrounds, languages and cultures.

Those who have seen the original video will be able to understand what I mean. I would like to remember the original version only, that is why I never saw the news version for the second time.

Tell me about it. And then they go ahead andsay that this video also represents the diversity of the states in India. Well then, where the hell are the Seven Sisters(the north-east) anywhere in that video?

Well, I was too small, but I remember watching Woh, X Zone and these other horror shows. They were real scary, not like this crappy Aahat that they show nowadays. I was fortunate enough to watch the repeat telecast of the Aahat episode of Aditya Srivastava in Aahat when I was bigger. I have watched a lot of re-runs of DD shows like Bymokesh Bakshi, Flop Show and Karamchand and loved every one of them. Verything was so simple and to the point. Unfotunately, in today's times it's not the case. I also remember watching Just Mohabbat and Movers and Shakers, they weren't the typical talk shows or soaps you'd see nowadays. Indian TV, unfortunately, has becoma a lucrative business, and taken a turn for the worse.

Loved that part of the older version..the new one doesnt have any other motive other than to have a "multiple stars" song....i guess i havent met anyone who liked the latest version!
