Gardes: Thanks to you for refreshing my childhood prayers. I would watch my father do prayers but did not understand the meaning.

Minajay, you are welcome. I am glad my little blurb brought back good memories.
The kiddie shlok link you sent earlier has the second shlok I had mentioned in my response to Angake on page one of this post (Samudravasane Devi....) and the 2 shloks are a must for Pratah Smaran before you get out of bed.
I am not a religious person but the few early morning shloks are a reminder to start your day in the right tone.

Since originally all the slokas were handed down the generations mouth to mouth there are number of versions for many slokas and this can be seen in number of books published My husband is a very religious person and has collected lot of books and we see different versions.Whatever the fact is that basically the meaning is the same Grades I saw ur post but went on a teerth yatra for 3 days so did not respond . A very beautiful post Thanks Radev 2010 for giving me this reference today.

Thanks, Chalhov. Hope you had a great teerth yaatra.
We are not a religious family but know a bit about our respective religions. I tend to read a lot and lately started taking interest in Sanskit version of the texts (don't know the S of Sanskrit, so it is a struggle) and enjoy the beauty of it it much more!

You could try books with English or Hindi translations Ramakrishna trust and some other publishers are there who do it well.Yes we had a good trip to Tirupati and Srikalahasti. We had done some pujas there.

Thanks. I will look up the publishers that you mention. I have books with translations from Sanskrit to English and Sanskrit to my mother-tongue! Translations tend to take away the beauty of the original verse in Sanskrit, so I am learning to read and memorize in Sanskrit.
