Vidya Balan was in Pakistan recently, for the release of the Urdu translation of the book Mo's Story, by Mehnaaz Rahmatullah. Vidya had gone to Karachi with a friend.
Says the actress "The director of Il Postino, Michael Radford was there too. He had directed the English audio version of Rahmatullah's book, in Joseph Fiennes' voice.
Meeting Radford was amazing; we came from different spaces and there was such a give-and-take of ideas.
Proceeds to kids' charity
The book release "was part of Reaching The Stars campaign. All the proceeds went for children's education. And that's something I really believe in," says Vidya. Rahmatullah's book will also be released in Hindi, in India, later.
How did Vidya get selected to release a book? "They were looking for an Asian woman with a reformist image and a traditional personality. I guess I fitted the bill."
