It has been five years since we saw Indian Idol emerging as a talent-hunt reality show.
Review your memories of Indian Idol.
Think over it and share in.
"What is the thing that makes you watch Indian Idol?" is it the humour, is it seeing Anu Malik every season? or is it any other judge? is it hussain? or is it just for the sake of singing that you watch this show?
So, the question is, as the subject suggests:
"What is The Thing That You Love Most About Indian Idol?"

There was a contestent-ankita mishra who used to perform quite different , and actually quite unconventionally from the usual participants. I recall that she even asked for a big cage for one of her performances and it was actually bought for her. Anu malik appreciated her for most of the performances and even credited her for being "different" from the usual.😊

Hahaha...yes I remember that. The whole cage which was brought on the stage. I don't remember the song, I think it was 'Piya Tu Ab Toh Aaja', not sure. But I think, she should have focused more on her singing rather than just bringing glamourous or dramatic elements on stage. Never-the-less it was a fun memory definitely.

What I like most about Indian Idol is the clean format. The show is very structured and composed. Everything from the format to the set design is very pleasing.

Just compare the Indian Idol set to the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 set - the former has a soothing blue and black colour scheme and the judges have a neat desk with lights on the front to show their 'rating' for the performance. And the latter is a garish multicoloured cheap-looking set and the judges' ratings have absurd titles like 'History' - I mean, what kind of performance is 'history'?!

Similarly, Indian Idol has its share of judge disagreements and drama, but it never goes over the top. In other shows, the format is designed so that even the judges are in competition (through a 'team' or 'gharana' system) which inevitably leads to over-drama.

So, in total, I like the Indian Idol concept generally. I look forward to the judges remarks, especially this year since they are all musicians. The lighting, the sets and the hosting are all crisp. The hosts don't shout and neither do they give bhaashans.

I agree completely. The format is clear in every way, nothing is left ambigous. This format is the basic reason for the continous success of this show.
I have not followed Saregama which you have mentioned. But seriously, history! O my God!
Also, I love the way, the entire life history of the contestants is revealed, it creates realism. True friendships bloom between the contestants depite of being competitors, like the friendship of Bhavya and Rajdeep which we saw last year.

The clear-cut simpleness of the concept......besides they aren't to controversial compared to other reality shows. Hopefully, the veto power will increase the awesomeness of this show.
