Its been a long time I told meli my wish to start a visarani thread. So here it is all the rajesh kumar fans, siva fans and of course crime/mystery/thriller fans this is the place. I will try to post every other day a small synopsis of the story. if anyone wishes to help me you are more than welcome. I am starting with this week and maybe post the older stories later.

A small introduction of the serial for those who are not aware. It is a crime seris with Vivek as the main detective, his wife ruby and his assistant vishu. It is how they solve very complex cases. I heard the stories are written by famous tamil crime writer Mr Rajesh Kumar. There is one story for the whole week, in four parts from mon-thurs and fri no serial telecast. I will be posting the whole story in one post and maybe we can discuss the story in detail in that thread. I am not starting with detailed updates right now, but if a lot of forum makkal want it I can maybe think about it.

So here is this week's kathai:

1st march - Monday

The main hero comes with a good news to his mother that he has secured an amazing job with a very good salary and he has to join on duty next week to ahmedabad. mother is very happy and emotional that their father is not alive to see all this and she worked very hard for this. she asks him to call his fiance meera and she will be very happy. Harish calls meera and tells her the great news and they have a romantic moment. He asks her to meet him. while talking on phone he gets an attack and shouts. meera is worried what happened to him and his mother comes running. she is shocked to see him bleeding from nose. Next thing harish wakes up in a hospital and doc assures him its nothing major.

Hi Gudgal
Thanks for starting this thread. I had stopped watching serials for a while but Visaranai has brought me back to serial watching -- largely because it is different from the run of the mill serial focusing on tears, family intrigue and what not. Visaranai has blood and gore but it doesn't offend social sensibilities (on issues such as the two wife phenomenon, for instance). So, I am a big fan of the serial. (I don't get Kalaingar TV but I watch it online, thanks to Tubetamil).
The stories are for the most part thrilling. There are plenty of flaws and lapses of judgement, of course. For instance, I find it most disgusting that the police are never able to keep members of the public away from a crime scene. They don't even seem to attempt to keep the crowds away. Instead, the police and main characters often engage in lengthy, substantive and sensitive discussions in the presence of the public. Totally unprofessional. But, at the end of the day I must compliment the producers/directors for taking on the challenge of doing something different from the average serial.
I am a fan of Saakshi Shiva and that was the main reason I started watching the serial. He is as good in Visaranai as he was in Anandham, where he played the inimitable ACD. I also like the character of Vishnu, who plays a role something akin to Dr Watson in Sherlock Holmes -- a bit of a bufoon. The actor (whatever his name is) plays the part perfectly.
Unfortunately, Ruby's role is disappointing -- totally useless except as a wife and provider to Vivek. She is mostly making coffee or dinner for Vivek and occasionally gives her opinion. I wish they would make her role meatier.
This week's story, focusing on the murder of a professor in a house where the owner had committed suicide, is quite chilling and I look forward to the rest of the episodes.
best wishes to all fans of Visaranai

Bonheur,
Nice to see ur post here.
This serial is made based on RajeshKumar sir's novels. Hence, they just potray the character Ruby as in the novels. As u said, It is not the routine serials. So we can't expect equla role for all.. Vivek is the lead and Vishnu is his side kick..
In novels, they write what charcters think and talk. To enact those and make it visual, there is no other option than the lengthy converstions. They try to be more sensible in their judgements.
Also, Police unable to keep members away from crime scene, happens in real life too. I have seen that where the police will ask them not to touch, but then out of interest the crowd will fall on the things over there.
Making Novels to visuals is difficult thing, as our taste differs from what we see and read. We get bored easily in visuals than novels, for the same situations and dialects. I raelly appreciate the director's effort.
I had my own imaginations for these two characters..
My request is that the scenes can be made more realistic.. It is so much artificial..

Hi Arjun Meera
I note your point about how the police can't control crowds from a crime scene. But in yesterday's episode (6 April 2010), a small bunch of reporters (no more than 10) are gathered at the police station in response to the appearance of signboards in public places warnining of threats to selected cellphone number owners. Instead of calling the owners of these numbers in private, the police stand in front of the reporters and call them. This is totally unprofessional. Very poor public communications. I hope Indian police in real life are a bit more professional. Even if they aren't, at least the novelist and director can project more professionalism in their stories.
I do like the character of Vishnu. He's very clownish. However, sometimes he gets too preachy and unrespectful of people's privacy For instance, in a recent episode, he chided a divorced woman for having an affair with an unmarried man. I don't think either of them was committing a crime legally to deserve admonishment from a police man.

Just found out about this thread. I watch this serial regularly, mainly because the telecast time suits me perfectly..10 pm...no disturbance of doorbell or phone bell. I like the serial .Concept is good....like the acting of Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson [missing the famous wordings of Mr Holmes..."its elementary Dr. Watson "]. I find the end to be rather abrupt may be due to time constraint. The BG music is too loud specially during important conversations. Wish the concerned people take note of this & rectify.

Vivek/ Vishnu combination is very good.

I saw a few episodes.SS looks smashing..vishnu is hilarious..
.ruby is irritating..keeps only feeding vishnu..but sometimes i feel the ending is not well explanined.
I am thrilled to see such serials.wish more on these lines come up rather than the usual melodrama.

Yes, bjda. Sometimes the story ends abruptly with many loose ends hastily strung together. It's all due to poor planning and editing, I think. The suspense element is what keeps the show going.
