Guess who Imran's idol is
Contrary to popular perception, Akshay Kumar and not Aamir Khan provided Imran Khan inspiration for his next role.
Imran plays a 23-year-old compulsive flirt and casanova in Punit Malhotra's I Hate Luv Stories, which will release on July 2 (2010). He hits on anything with a pulse, and the ladies love how charming and pretty he is. Obviously, his life changes when he meets Sonam's character. The film is a love triangle between Sonam Kapoor, Imran Khan and Sammir Dattani.
Though Aamir Khan has also been linked with everyone from Mamta Kulkarni to Pooja Bhatt to Jiah Khan to Rani Mukerji to Jessica Hines and Rachael Shelley, Imran Khan chose to draw inspiration from casanova Akshay Kumar for his character. Before he married Twinkle Khanna, he was linked with Sushmita Sen, Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Pooja Batra. After marriage, he was linked with Priyanka Chopra.
Imran said, 'I was at a loss how to play this confident and suave character that is a hit with the ladies. After some deliberation, I decided to base it on Akshay. I have met him twice, and have found him to be very cool and chilled out. The character needed to be like that, so it was a good fit.'
